As the title says just received the slim slide releases for my P30. I shortened the original part but felt reducing the thickness might help the occasional failure to lock the slide which I knew was self inflicted.

Is that from HKparts? The problem I have with the slide release isn't from my thumb hitting it, but rather the palm of my support hand. That looks like it would help a lot.

No, got it directly from HK.

So are these "thinner" as far as how far they stick out from the frame and also shorter in that the lever doesn't go as far back to the grip area?

They look very similar to the size of the P2000 levers.

Well, yes they are thinner and shorter and yes they are P2000 levers.

Ahh the holy unicorn of Shangrala!

I tried for two hours on Monday to get a order in at HK CS. Unfortunately the phone line was busy and kept sending me to voice mail.

I've been wanting these slide releases for awhile, but would not mind the P30LS levers Which are shorter in length then stock P30 levers to compensate for the safety.

Part numbers for the slim slide releases are:

Right: R207757

Left: L207756

So these are the ones that you have to completely remove to get the slide off the frame?

If so, I would rather have the P30LS Lever which makes take down easier, but that's just me.

Yes JohnR, although it is not much different from what I understand.

Like you I would rather have the P30LS levers, I all ready have a P30LS and have never experienced a failure to lock slide. But since the limited number of P30LS in country I doubt the levers are in supply. I'm going to try to contact Travis at HK CS on Monday (early this time) and will report back.

I have the standard P2K lever on my P30 right now, and it really doesn't make the takedown any more difficult at all. The only difference is that the lever comes all the way out, just like the USP/P2000.

I'm glad to see something is available (or becoming more readily available, at least), even though I've adjusted to the standard P30 levers and don't really feel there would be much advantage (to me) in changing them now. I know it's an issue that turns some shooters off of an otherwise viable choice for them (almost kept me away).

The slim slide releases seemed to have cured my occasional slide lock failure. Todd was in for Get SOM/Speed Kills this weekend and if there was ever a chance of the slide failing to lock back this would be the opportunity. Zero occurrences. That's good enough for me they will stay on the gun. They don't look as nice as the stock part but that's not really an issue for me.

No, they are not a captured part like the stock release but I don't plan on taking it apart where I can loose the right lever.

Just ordered mine today...we'll see in a week when they get here.

BTW no P30LS levers are available at this time and an unknown time period till they will be stocked per HK CS. I would really have preferred the LS levers but I am not worried about using the P2000 slim levers even though they are not captured by the trigger spring.

Does anyone know the OAL of the slim slide release lever? I have been considering cutting my stock one down since the LS versions aren't available.

Did you order from HK or HK Parts? They must have had a price increase if you ordered from HK.

That was from HK, what did you end up paying? I was put on hold to look up my request on the P30LS levers and then talked about the P2000 slim levers and the regular P2000 levers, I hope I didn't confuse the gent on what my #1 and #2 preferred choice was.

In hindsight the regular P2000 levers should do the trick too so which ever ones I receive I'll try them out.

Mental note to self, confirm contents ordered after running through multiple options.

I paid $37.50 with shipping.

Just ordered a set. Sounds like several sets have recently been ordered for the P30.

I received my P2000 Slim Slide Releases today. While sliced bread might be better for human kind, these slide releases are definitely better for P30 users (IMO). Now I'm back to trying to figure out which back strap size I like the best. I was using the large to help keep my thumb off the slide release. Now I'll go back and see if the medium works better.

Thanks John.

The slide release works great but at least on my P30 the right side is somewhat loose and rattles worse than the stock part.

Mine too. I tried putting the P30 slide release on the right side to see if it took care of the rattle, but it's there either way. For now I sticking with the P2000 slide releases on both sides with the rattle.

I tried going back to the medium back strap today, but after a quick shooting session I will go back to the large.

If it bothers you enough, I think I read on HKpro that some people were putting tape behind theirs to prevent the rattle. I've always been slightly annoyed by the rattle from the stock right side release, but never enough to do anything about it.

As an aside, instead of buying the slim release from HK I decided to cut ~1/4" off of my strong side (left) release lever. I haven't made it to the range yet, but it appears that it may do the trick for me. I'm hoping to make it to the range tomorrow to test it out.

"I decided to cut ~1/4" off of my strong side (left) release lever"

I was going to go that route unitl I read about the slim P2000 levers. The rattle isn't going to make a difference to me.

Still waiting on my Unicorn to arrive. I think they forgot about me. I'll hopefully come home to a nice package in the mail today (day 10).

I cut mine down originally but the P2000 levers are not only shorter but thinner.

Ended up putting one thickness of electrical tape on the frame inset under the right side lever, it stopped most of the rattle. Tried two pieces one on top of the other but that was too much and was pushing the lever out creating more of a gap than I was comfortable with.

I have the same issue with the rattle. It's worth it over not having my slide lock back

takes a little time getting used to releasing it on reloads ( more difficult )

How does the thinness help? Does it have any effect on the fit in the holster?

Thinness helps simply because you have less material on the lever to press against either hand (generally the strong hand).

It hasn't changed the fit of any of my holsters.

Good to know. I'll see how my cut down version works and go from there. No problems yesterday at the range, but it might be a different story at my class next week.

I never experienced the slide not locking-back with my P2000sk, but I do about 5% of the time with my P30. I'd swap out for these, but my thumbs are oddly short & stubby---I love that even with my weird thumbs I can easily actuate the standard P30 lever without shifting my grip one iota.

I'll train on my refined P30-style grip all the more.

if this needs to be a separate thread, I will start a new one.

I was shooting a new P30 today. I am a glock shooter and I have had issues in the past riding the slide release lever causing a failure to lock back. Today with the P30 I had several instances of the same. I assumed I was riding it again.

After making an effort to adjust my grip and be cognizant of the issue it continued.

I stopped, cleared the pistol and began experimenting. With a mag inserted it took the slightest touch on the lever to cause a failure to lock as I manually worked the slide. It was an extremely light touch. I got another shooter to try the same, it is seemingly so sensitive that there can be no contact on the top whatsoever or it will not lock back.

Is this normal? It does the same with any magazine I have. There are times I clearly can ride the slide lock enough to cause it, but it seems this is overly sensitive.

I'd appreciate some input on this, my first HK and I don't know what to make of it.

Ray Keith,

The P30 slide release is easy to ride, thus the reason several of us have tried the P2000 slim slide releases. It's all about technique, but after shooting a thumbs forward approach for years its hard to break. Even with the slim slide releases I still must slide my strong thumb over a little off the weapon.

I love the P30, but riding the slide release was a problem for me. I was having a similar problem from time to time with my Sig P226 and again it was me simply me allowing my right thumb to put pressure on the slide release.

The slim slide releases have helped me a lot.

Now I'm just waiting on Heinie to get their standard Straight Eight's out of production again for the P30. That and some Gray's trigger reset work.

I just threw mine on before my trip out to Baltimore. We'll see how they work out this afternoon.
