It's the same rifle with AR-15 rails and accessories slapped on. That's lazy, making blaster rifles out of old Sterling sub guns is the way to go :D

Starship Troopers used Rugers - and they couldn't shoot worth crap either. I thought the pulse rifles were Thompsons. SW were Stirlings. Battlestar Galactica used 4 barrel COPS as concealed handguns and FN 5.7s for military handguns.

BSG also used Beretta storm carbines with RDS.

(HCM beat me to it!) The new Battlestar Galactic also used Beretta Storm Carbines, and at least one UMP for long guns.

The Aliens pulse rifles were Thompsons per IMFDB.com, "The pulse rifle was constructed from an M1A1 Thompson submachine gun fitted with a cut-down Remington 870 shotgun with the heat shield and foregrip of a Franchi SPAS-12 covering it."

Aesthetically I'd prefer a more holistic rebuild rather then what appears to be an incremental adjustment to the original, perhaps to facilitate building functional propguns; but my name is not Blomkamp, and this is not up to me.
