One of the finest men I have ever known has lost a long battle with cancer. Trooper Bill Goodness.

Bill was an academy classmate and served as our agencies lead defence tactics instructor for many years. We were two of the original members of our agencies Sprecial Response Team. He was an incredible martial artist and when I was instructing at the academy I'd attend Bill's class. After class we'd spar for a couple of hours, which is a kind way of saying I let Bill beat my ass for two hours. To say that Bill was a fine man is about as massive an understatement as you can make. Not only was he a great cop, but a simply outstanding human being as well who greatly gave back more than he took. He was one of the very few people that I've never heard anyone say anything bad about even in jest. In fact, I'm pretty sure everyone in my agency from the top down would have considered a criticism of Bill to be fighting words. Our world and profession is truly a lesser place today. RIP brother.
