On the advice of our forum NFA dealer (https://pistol-forum.com/member.php?12052-Hansohn-Brothers), I ordered an AR Gas Vent (http://www.weaponoutfitters.com/ar-gas-vent.html) in order to prevent gas to the face during my upcoming EAG Carbine class (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?17505-EAG-Tactical-Carbine-1-High-View-West-VA-Oct-24-25) as I'll be running my 5.45 AR (http://rationalgun.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-definitive-545x39mm-ar15-article.html) with my Saker 556.

I will report back with word on how well it works.

RTV sealed charging handle?

No, but the same effect is achieved with the BCM Gunfighter handle's raised lip.

Yes and no.

I prefer to combine the two. The revised BCM CH (the first ones had no lip) deflects, but the rtv actually seals, or tries to.

Excellent advice, thank you. Orange or black RTV or does it matter?

I don't think it matters. I think mine is red. I kinda like the contrast with the black so I can tell it's still there.

I read Zak's article below probably 10 years ago, and not sure if anything's changed since then, but he lists a specific kind and says color makes no difference.

ETA: I like red for the same reasons.

Are you still running 7N6?

Do you plan on running 7N6 in a can?

Yup and yup. Already tried it out and zeroed for 7N6 with the can

Huh. I never noticed the revision to add the lip - I had one of the older BCM CHs without it (and substituted a PRI for suppressor use). I recently purchased a new 11.5" BCM KMR upper, and sure enough, it has the lip. Thanks for pointing this out - nice update!

I'm assuming it's safe to shoot in the silencer (from a corrosion standpoint)?

Other then that; sounds good to me.

Yes, SilencerCo is on record as saying it is fine. I rinse the suppressor out with hot water and dry in the oven for a bit after shooting just to be sure.

That's a solid company!

Cool dude, I bet you'll have a blast in that case.

I wasn't meaning to Monday morning quarterback; I just got concerned when we started discussing corrosive stuff and NFA items.

How does it sound?

To be fair, AAC is also cool with corrosive being fired through their cans.

You weren't Monday morning quarterbacking, it was a legit question.

It sounds like 556 to me but I need more time with it. It also sounds 20-30cents cheaper per shot than 556

It sounds pretty good to me. Nice deep tone.
