I am saddened to read of Mr James' passing.

Have a safe range day. I'll raise a glass in his memory as well.

Thanks for the news. Did you know him? I enjoyed his work.

Did you know him?

I did. He always treated me like a peer; I will never forget that kindness.

Sad to hear that, I always liked his writing, though it has been years since I've seen his stuff. Tam, what's with the .41? I just got my 57, and will also fire off a salute, if appropriate.

That's a great personal aspect. My condolences.

Frank was a tireless evangelist for .41 Magnum and 10mm Auto.

I'd get talking about how the "shoots flat" aspect of some of these chamberings had very little meaning in The Real World and he'd point out how my Real World didn't include much shooting of coyotes from tractor seats at 75-100 yards. :)

Ahh, I well remember the 10mm stuff, but I must have blocked out the .41. I'll shoot it for the first time tomorrow then, in his honor. Also, I got it for apparently the same reason he liked it.

I've very much missed his writing since his stroke a while back and twice a week, I'd check in on his blog hoping for more.

He is sorely missed.

It's not very well known but Frank James was an early participant in the NTI. He did all the shooting scenarios over the years with a 5 inch 41 Magnum and always, I think, placed in the top 5. He knew how to make that gun sing.

I am deeply saddened by this loss. I've liked Frank's writings for years. When he had his stroke, I was deeply worried about him. I was just thinking earlier this week about how he might be doing. Now I realize how prescient those thoughts were...

My condolences to his family, friends, and all those who mourn his loss.

Frank had not just one, but several 57s in his safe that were just plain shot out and not really worth the effort to resuscitate one more time. That's a lot of shooting of a pretty hairy-chested cartridge.
