With my FS9 and 9c, they group about the same to 25 yards.

Only shot a 9mm compact once. Favorable to my fullsize .40 & .45 out to 15 yards.

I know some full size 9mm m&p are plagued with poor accuracy, not sure about the compacts (I think they have different lockign blocks) I have owned two m&p 9 compacts and both grouped well at 25 yards.

Got anymore info on that? I'm intrigued, certain generations, serial numbers, etc, etc, etc? Was this recent or was this years ago?

Was it isolated to certain types of ammo?

Thanks.

ETA: Also, what was the groupings like on those that had poor accuracy?

I have a full sized 9mm M&P and have been disappointed with it's accuracy. I've shot it many times, my wife (a rather accomplished shooter) and several friends who know what they're doing have fired the pistol.

It's odd, all shooters using the same ammo (124 gr. Federal American Eagle) shot groups at 15 yds. which varied from an average of 4" to 8" each.

There's a huge thread about this at M4 Carbine.net (which I'd link to but the site is down at the moment, dammit).

Larry Vickers seems to think the slide to barrel lockup timing is off on some versions of this pistol.

And I guess I've got one. :(

Larry Vickers seems to think the slide to barrel lockup timing is off on some versions of this pistol. That's a pretty well known issue. The BarSto barrel, which addresses the unlocking issue, has been in development for a long while.

I ditched my M&Ps, about a year ago, because of this very issue.

I have two full sized M&P's and have not noticed any accuracy issues with either of them using 9mm NATO ammo. But that is but two examples.

My M&P9 is more accurate than all the 9mm Glocks I've used.

My Pro 9 totally sucked at 25 yds (5 inches plus). Whereas my Gen 4 17 could print the 1.5" group in my avatar. But I sense this issue is much more prominent in the 5" guns than the FS. I guess that might make sense if the early unlock thing is the root cause I suppose the longer barrel would accentuate the issue.

My M&P 9L also shoots very well. I've been able to get groups of 1.25" at 20 yds with several loads and have multiple sub 2" groups with it. OTOH, I have to really work hard to get 2" groups out of my G34 at the same distance. I much prefer the M&P trigger with Apex DCAEK and Ram to the G34 which has a Vanek trigger in it.

I'm more accurate with my M&P9C versus my SA XD40 4" but that could just be me.

Probably not you, as the XD is one of the worst pistols we've seen...
