I have a nickled M19 and others including a six-inch M57, or two.
Shooting snubs more these days, however.

Also got some Ruger Blackhawks in that barrel length.

I love my 6" K-22. Its one of the easiest guns to shoot well I've ever had. The something over 200K rounds through it may have some bearing on that, but its just plain fun. It made 6 for 6 on the 18"w X 36" h plate @ 300 yards once. Shooting running rabbits or stuff thrown in the air doesnt seem that tough.

Thinking about swapping the 6" barrel back onto the 4" 19. It may grow a 2x Leupold scope also.

My personal 6" K-22 is a serious tackdriver and like Malamute described, one of the easiest guns to shoot well that I have.

That little gun is plenty accurate, but, well, kinda small for field use.

That's not a real K-22; that is a current/recent production M-17.

Real K-22s haven't been made in over 30 years. Apologies to LR; but there it is… and accuracy is hit or miss, along with cylinder issues. IOW, you may get one that is a tack-driver and the charge holes don't coke up in 50 rounds or less… or, you may get one that groups only so-so, and you better have a cleaning rod with a brush to hand if you want to get through a box of ammunition. BTW, this also applies to kit guns and the M-18 of those earlier days. I've had both examples; and the latter is enough to swear you off revolvers in general, and .22 revolvers in particular.

Real K-22s had polished charge holes and did not leave the plant unless they shot to a standard. To my knowledge, no other .22 revolvers faced this test.

Here's my old S&W 27-2. I believe I purchased it 1984 - 1986 when I was working for FCSO. I just added the Hogue cocobolo grips. The action is slicker than deer guts on a doorknob. From the Big Empty, ELN.

5 screw, no dash. I did get to examine it before the happy new owner left with it.

Plenty of shooting and finish wear, but nice lockup and slick action. Very jelly.

The 53 Jet was cool, but not on my list and way out of my budget. Same store and case where I got my 6” 28-2.

There's a local that has a model 53 for sale that pops up occasionally who wants $1000 for his with no box nor the .22 inserts. Ammo is available but it would be an expensive toy with limited utility.

Longer sight radius gives the 6 inch revolver an edge in precision shooting. For field use, this length makes great sense and in magnum calibers the extra 2 inches permits achieving significantly higher velocity.

Model 17.

This example is the single most accurate .22 revolver I have personally ever fired. Owned by a former Sheriff's Deputy from eastern Oregon, and found by a buddy from the Milt Sparks shop who knew I was looking for one. Great price too. I actually need to carry/shoot it more, due to its capability.

My 10 year old daughter put 10 rounds through my 386XL Hunter. I was quite impressed. The Scandium Frame made it easy for her to hold and the 6” barrel moderates recoil nicely.

This was her first range trip.

Is the HD a factory "half target" or aftermarket front sight?

It’s been refinished and the grips restored. There was no indication in the letter on the front sight but it sure works good. The 6.5” Pre War HD was a non catalog special order and I read a blurb that only 17 have been documented. You would have needed to know exactly what you wanted to get one. The action was fantastic as well.

27-3, probably 30 years old and new(ish) to me.

Is that a five inch or six? I always wanted a five inch 27.

Six inch.

Still very nice but now I won't feel guilty for coveting it!

These aren't actual safe queens, I just put them in their respective boxes for the photos. I do have the original grips for both but much prefer what I have on them.

Way back in the late sixties my dad parted with his 6.5" Model 29 to get this K-38 and a K-22 so I could get more trigger time in on them as a lad.

Both of those are still rockin'. Here's my Model 14-3.

I guess I've learned from this thread that everyone else's K-22 looks nicer than mine :)
My grandad put a lot of food on the table with mine but it's not as purty as the ones pictured.
6"+ barrels are so easy to hit with.

Bump to keep this going.

My only 6" revolver. 1968 (IIRC) Super Single Six. The stocks were on it when I bought it and the seller didn't know anything about them. Only came with the LR cylinder but I occasionally consider picking up a Mag cylinder just because.

Bought for 268 dollars back in the day (before I was even born. I have the box it was shipped in) and bought for 250 just a few days back.

Can't wait to put some rounds downrange. It doesn't seem like it's been fired much at all.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220706/bff3016fdc9d958ada5423dffdba9d91.jpg

Security Six, six inch. This is the third set of stocks on this gun and I think I have more invested in the stocks than revolver. This set is some cheap and ugly NOS Siles I picked up from CDNN for almost nothing and they fit and work the best for me to shoot DA.

Colt Officer’s Model Match. Short action (effectively SAO but still “functions” in DA) in .38 Special.

I try to stick with higher condition guns (even for shooters; they just seem to have fewer gremlins), but old E/I frames with rare/unique features are too hard to pass up. This one needs a letter—in 1959-60, Colt shipped a bunch of OMM short actions to military competition teams. This one is in that reported serial range, so I am interested to see whether it was in one of the military orders.

Only a pimp in a New Orle...huh, those actually look good. Def go with the black Tyler T. Solid BBQ rig.

I've got a set of Grasshorns and a Tyler T on my 3.5" 27 and TBH it looks better than it shoots. Hogues in the streets, magnas in the sheets.

One of my deer hunting handguns from the mid-80's, a Model 657 (.41 Magnum - 8 3/8" barrel) with some tweaking by the Mag-Na-Port Custom Shop. My longest and most difficult shot came from this gun which turned out to be about 70 yards off-hand on a deer standing straight-on to me. My 170 gr Sierra JHP handload (@1500 fps) entered and exited the center of the neck just below the white throat patch with instant DRT results. It's not the most accurate S&W I've ever owned, but it's accounted for 6 deer so far; three with the original iron sights and three with the Leupold 2X scope.
