Great thread. Enjoyed seeing the thoughtful choices others have made.

My summer setup is below. The medical, large gas, a light go in a light jacket or small pack. Everything else on my person.

Two magpul wallets keep things super thin plus I can happily hand one to someone demanding it and they will have expired cards and and nothing with my address on it. The WPS keychain thing keeps the keys secure and hanging high in the pocket creating more space for the wallet. Snakestaff wide TQ.

I also carry a Macro when I have a thicker t-shirt. I found marking my sig mags essential so I'm not carrying a Macro with a XL baseplate.

Apple Watch Ultra is backup to my cell phone and provides excellent navigation.

I’m pretty vanilla. If I’m honest with myself most days it’s a j frame. When I am not at work and I am with my family I normally add a 19. Everything I carry is pretty basic and budget friendly. So far there is little I come across that I can’t handle with my basic pocket set up.107147107148

Bianchi speed loader with same wadcutters (not as much a speed reload but a top off)

Big Skinny wallet
Pen Zebra F701 with Space Pen fine refil
Watch Timex Easy Reader on Nato band. The watch belonged to my dad. When we were leaving the hospital when he passed my sister asked if I wanted it. Thats a hard way to get a watch. Its basic and clean and works so it fits me as well.

Been pretty bombproof thus far. Use it for duty mostly for the past 18 months and usually switch to something smaller/lighter on days off. I like the flatness of it. Lanyard makes for easy retrieval and retention during magazine changes.

Given the NPE I’m heading to, I’m very light on my body tonight. Of course, I also have a day pack with med stuff, phone, light, etc.

But this is it, besides a watch and plenty of boyish charm:

They look like Uncle Mike’s boot grips. I think they were standard on j-frames before the current grips.

This was what was carried today. For no other reason than the Kimber was clean and not locked up, the holster was handy, and the box cutter is one I use pretty regularly while working.

Nothing fancy, just reliable working tools.

Yesterday and today I had to take trips to the range and shoot a few test loads in a few different guns. I was wearing my 4" 629 and had my ever present J frame in my front left pocket. Normally I don't use the heavy 300 grain Hammers for town type purposes, but they were already in a speedloader, so I dropped that speedloader in my pocket. The gun was loaded with a standard .44 Magnum 240 grain hardcast SWC though.

Had my giant BladeTech Mouse-Lite for a pocket knife. Handy little thing.

As they say though. " The mission drives the gear" and if the day calls for revolvers and testing I just roll with it. Today was just a regular day, so a plain old 1911 worked fine.

Called a dive wallet. Just a little waterproof box. Been using them for years. I break the hinge or clasp on one every 4-5 years or so, but they are not expensive. They come in various sizes for credit cards, passports, etc. I used to travel a lot and just got used to using one and been doing it ever since. Keep my cash in a money clip and cards in the dive wallet.

Thanks for showing me something I didnt realize I needed until I saw it. :)

Not as much in average life, though theres times id use it, but when going in for med stuff where they expect you to get into their weird gown things. I show up in t shirt, scrubs bottoms and flip flops, with ID, med card, $20 and maybe small SAK in a small plastic bag. This simplifies and improves it.

If you croak out in the hills when a bear eats you or killer bunnies or whatever, your ID should be in good shape if they ever find you. Made of win. :)

Ironically Malamute the last part is also one of the reasons I carry one. I spend a ton of time alone in the mountains, deserts, etc. Keeping my ID in a waterproof plastic carrier may just make identifying my body that much easier.

One time I actually took a picture on my camera of me (my face) in a really bad storm I got caught in elk hunting. The temps dropped so fast and the wind was blowing so hard that when I got into a little draw and up into some trees I realized that was a mistake. The tree branches were freezing and popping off and falling. It was ugly. I can't remember the exact temps, maybe around 10 or zero but then it dropped about 20-30 degrees in 30 minutes in the storm. I can't remember the numbers. I figure it was 20-30 below, who knows what the wind chill was. I actually ran into two massive, truly rare mule deer bucks. The type you only get a shot at once in a lifetime. They were close, and looked at me and could care less. They wanted out of the storm too.

I tried to get pics of the conditions but the camera could not do it justice:

https://i.imgur.com/d7EWPkV.jpg

I took a picture of me in the storm before I got down behind a couple big boulders and away from the trees.

https://i.imgur.com/xHM83iz.jpg

I considered that if I froze to death that I didn't want someone thinking I did something dumb, and the pics would show the storm. Finally it passed and I headed down off the mountain. Really didn't snow too much, just nasty winds, and bad temps that are typical for the region, which has often been the coldest part of the lower 48.

https://i.imgur.com/d7EWPkV.jpg

I was very glad to get down off the steep stuff though. Came out not far from a cattle ranch and was not paying too much attention to much other than my own two feet when I crossed fresh coyotes tracks. I realized they could not be 2-3 minutes old. Coyotes and cattle are a bad combo especially with calving season coming up. I looked and sure enough he had to have walked right past me. He was trotting looking over his shoulder, so I popped the scope caps up, threw the bipod legs down, went prone and could just barely see him but guessed 300 ish, so I sent a single 300 wm round his way. At the recoil he disappeared. I had no idea if I hit him as he was just going out of sight.

I followed his tracks and sure enough, the bullet had found home.

https://i.imgur.com/Fk3LeDYh.jpg

Long version of saying that yep, I keep my ID in there for the same reason!

Old reliable. V2 p2000, just runs. No red dot, no fancy sights, just hk goodness. Not the fastest gun, but it works a d it puts rounds whee I want it to, hides better or as good as the other guns I've tried (and I've tired a lot)

Fantastic 14+hr workshop with Kwan Lee (Systema.us) and Adam Zettler. Systema is hard to understand unless you spend some time with it. I learned a ton, and brought back some great material to teach at my group. A few deep bruises, and a pulled muscle in my hip (TENS unit is on now), but nothing serious.

Two cliff hangers on one page. :(

Not much to say really. You have traditional 3 white dot night sights from trijicon and mepro. You have trijicon hds also, not super sharp like other models are known for (you can always use some fine grit sand paper and knock those edges down and touch them up with a bluing pen. Dawson makes a set of black rear and a fiber front. Other than that, you can experiment with p30 front sights (same dovetaul as the p2000.) The meprolight night sights are cheap and hit poa. I sharpie the rear white rings and it works just fine out to 100 yards if you do your part.

As soon as sights, and holster arrive, I'll be carrying the middle v1 again. I tend to carry one gun for 2-3 years, and rediscover some nuanced trait from one of the other two.

I think its great that flash lights have their own and separate thread.

Saw the 850fps was out of a 4”. What’s it running from the snubby?

I found my notes!

Naturally while looking for some other data...

They are clocking at 780 FPS (781 actually) from the 1 & 7/8ths" barreled Ruger LCR.

Which BTW, is a very nice little gun. The more I use this little thing, the more I really enjoy it. This combo is like PB&J.

Solid info. Just found a 432, so I’ll be grabbing some soon.

Pocket drop after sushi with my wife. Depending on my day/where I’m going, a Glock 42 and an extra mag may take the pistol slot from the 19. Unless I forget something, the rest is always on me…

I love that loadout. If I could make myself get a Charter, I would carry that every day.

Is that the same Bulldog you were running in some posts on your old blog? And what's that leather you've got it in?

Yes, this bulldog is still rolling a couple thousand rounds later. I kept all pressures within Brian Pearce's recommendation of 2200 PSI or under in his 44 special article and don't get crazy with it. Check the screw torques every time I clean it. Haven't had a single issue. 200gr Gold Dots for urban carry and 200gr hard cast for rural and practice. It is a good partner to the 4" 29-2 and only weighs 22.7 oz loaded and is extremely accurate.

The holster is a Side Guard Quick Clip AIWB and I have been extremely happy with it. I did add a wedge from mastermind tactics.

Seeing if this is more comfortable than a 1911/SME combo. So far it's not, but it's not terrible either
