I just picked up a new Delica. The Endura feels like a sword next to it.
I agree.

Years ago when I was shopping for my first Spyderco, looking at the pictures in catalogs and on-line, I was convinced the Endura was the knife for me, until I saw the Endura and Delica in person. I was quite surprised at the size of the Endura. I may still get an Endura, but I own a Delica.

A lot of kettlebell swings means well developed obliques, which gives me a natural cleft that hides everything.
I really dislike wedges, wings and other assorted doodads, just give be a straight drop with a relatively low ride and i'm good.

I'm really digging my new Kramer #5, just a basic old school 0 cant holster.

Just goes to show how individual holster fit can be. After a couple of purchases I’ve pretty much figured out at this point in time if JodyH likes a holster I’m going to hate it [emoji1]

One of the most painful holsters I ever tried on was one of the forum favorites (can't remember which one) that was kydex with a kydex wedge molded in.
It pressed on a nerve in my inner thigh and was damn near debilitating, as in "kicked in the balls" type pain (i'm guessing is was the ilioinguinal nerve).
Even foam wedges that make contact in a specific area can be painful for me rather quickly.
No more wedgies for me.

Same issue here with a holster with an extra tuck feature... A day or two of that and I had to switch to strong side while I found another holster! I felt herniated.

One thing I did find out - all wedges are not created equal. I switched to using vdevgru wedges about 6 months ago and they work really well for me.

They seem more "rubbery" than many I've tried and so they are more comfortable and last longer. I was going through other wedges at the rate of one every few weeks and now get several months out of one. (I think the extra wear is due to the fact that I carry with an X300...)

love the Delica too - the Endura is slower to flip open as well. If I wanted to go larger I would go with the Stretch. If I was ok with spending more money on g-10 scales - the para military 2 has been the only knife I have carried for the better part of 5 years. The perfect edc for me

Is there a decent all around Spyderco for 50$ ish?

Spyderco Schempp Tuff

I've been using the Morrigan AIWB until I figure out the ride height I like then I'll look into buying something a little more AIWB specific.
The adjustability of the Morrigan makes it a handy test mule holster for ride height, tilt etc.. (they're also quick ship and fairly inexpensive).

Which holster is that?Yes, I really like the Protac series... 1000L with the larger HL & 350L with the smaller 1L-1AA using a 123 battery. I know some swear by a Surefire, and I've owned a few, but I couldn't get past the price and that they wouldn't take rechargeable batteries.

The OWB is Renaissance's Drake. Very well built and close fitting.
http://renaissancefirearms.com/drake/
I also carry AIWB and either use an SAS with a JMCK claw or a Stealthgear made for my Kahr PM9.

The mag pouch is a 21 year old snap-on in horse hide from Garrity Gunleather. It's a testament to his craftsmanship that it still functions like new .

100% on the ProTac, I’ve used 5-6 models now and all are 100%. I lost a ProTac 2AA the other day. It fell into the holes in a concrete wall in a crawlspace, my mistake and I said a bad word so loud my wife thought I has cut my hand off or something. I’m currently carrying a replacement 500 lument 2L-X with 18650 battery in 3-way mode for utility purposes, and a HL-X 1000 lumen in bright/offf mode for defensive purposes. Night walks through the woods with the bog and a light in either hand can be disconcerting for the local wildlife when I decide to “light it up!”.

Thanks for the Drake, I’ve been needing a pancake holster for a CZ P-07/P-09 set and probably should replace my trusty Glock Sport Combat Holster with one. I get about a year out of the Sport/Combat holster until it starts to lose retention and needs to be replaced, but thye are cheap and useful after replacement so I don’t care.

+1 on the JMCK 2.5 AIWB whenI go out - love it!

This has been the standard "outside of work" carry for a while now. While I'm at work (medical facility, strict NPE), I absolutely DO NOT have a 42 riding AIWB.

Spare mag and light are carried in a BFG Ten-Speed double pistol mag pouch, tourniquet is carried in a BFG Ten-Speed AR mag pouch, PHLster pocket kit is carried in back left pocket, LTT (or Brig-Tac, depending on the day) is carried in a JMCK IWB-3, bill-fold and keys in front right pocket, pepper-spray in watch pocket, cell phone and pocket caddie (containing a pen, chapstik, and SAK) in front left pocket, and a Spyderco in the back right pocket.

Along with my smaller Malkoff MDC (Malkoff Daily Carry) lights, I also carry this one quite a bit. The main advantage of this slightly larger light is the ability to use an 18650 cell for longer runtimes. This one is intended as a more general purpose light but could most certainly be used in a "tactical" role for self defense purposes.

Specs;

AOL = 4-7/8"
Weight = 6.4 ounces with Orbtronic 18650 3500mAh flat top protected cell (https://www.orbtronic.com/3500mah-18650-imr-battery-high-drain-rechargeable-orbtronic-li-ion)
Malkoff MD2 body (https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/md2-body-and-switch)
Malkoff 16.5 head (https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/mdx-16-5-head-black-ha-iii) with M61N drop-in (https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-6p-g2-c2-etc-6-9-volts/products/m61n-to-fit-surefire-and-malkoff) (older 300-lumen version) and high-low bezel switch (https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/high-low-bezel-switch-for-md2) (approximately 300 lumens on high, 5 on low)
Surefire Z41 clicky tailcap (about 5/16" shorter than Malkoff tailcaps, can often be found on ebay)
Prometheus titanium clip (https://darksucks.com/collections/titanium-pocket-clips-1/products/surefire-titanium-clip)
Solarforce lanyard ring (https://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/products/solarforce-ss-lanyard-ring-for-l2-l2m-l2p-surefire-6p-9p)
DIY finger lanyard
Runtime graph high (https://imgur.com/woiealr)

Eye-popping lumens or high candela/lux are not always needed. In fact for more mundane uses, a central hot spot smoothly transitioning into the fill with a defined outer edge is easy on the eyes and quite useful. This particular drop-in has an extremely smooth and artifact-free beam, and is rated at 4000k color temperature with a CRI of 80 which renders colors accurately.

With the bezel tightened, it will activate of full power every time and without fail, the light is sized perfectly for an icepick hold and the raised switch boot on the tailcap is easy to reach with the thumb. The light carries very comfortably clipped inside a front pocket.

The Magic-Pass is a ticket, room key, meal ticket, and purchase tool. With it, I don't need my wallet while in the park.

The POM went undetected in my backpack during bag checks and my pocket while passing through metal detectors. Then again, the watch and my cellphone didn't trip the detectors either.

Perhaps not quite "EDC" but this light does serve a niche role as a defensive light. It sits next to my primary HD pistol in the safe, and it rides comfortably in my front-left pants pocket (replacing a small EDC light (https://i.ibb.co/7pw0pJx/malkoff-5.jpg)) if venturing out in the public at night;

https://i.ibb.co/7CGKTWB/91T-1.jpg
Malkoff M91T head (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/large-malkoff-led-flashlights/products/m91t-md3) on a MD3 body (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/md3-body-and-switch) with a Surefire tailcap and Raven Concealment clip. This head uses a TIR lens that focuses the light into a 750-lumen/20,000-lux beam. Along with its simple UI and foolproof single output (no programming to get unprogrammed), it fills the role exceptionally well. I find the MD3 length body easy to grasp and keep a firm grip on, and it's long enough to serve as an impact weapon if needed.

This light gets daily use as my "walk the dogs" light: a Malkoff M91B head (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/large-malkoff-led-flashlights/products/m91-md3) on a MD3 body, worn in a Kytex Gear holster (http://www.kytexgear.com/products-page/surefire-carriers/vertical-surefire-6pg2-carrier/);

https://i.ibb.co/3Bpm6Yw/M91B-2.jpg
The M91B uses a reflector which results in more uniform beam (1,000-lumen/8,500 lux), making it ideal for keeping on eye on the dogs. I also have a high/low bezel switch (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/high-low-bezel-switch-for-md2) installed in this light, the low setting (approximately 30 lumens) quite adequate once I've done my initial scan on high. I usually clip it onto my belt as it gets dark and leave it on until I retire for the evening.

Good illumination tools are a worthy investment.

I've got 3200 through that P-07. Another one has 2300 and a lot of dryfire. That's not a ton of rounds because most of my practice is with my competition gear.

I am super happy with the P-07. I feel like I've finally found my perfect carry gun.

With some dryfire and lubrication a stock gun is fine. You could also consider a CGW ProGrade kit, or buy the gun from Cajun with it installed. Here's a post that summarizes this:

I think the CZ P-07 is the *currently produced* perfect carry gun for me as well. Even in its stock form, it shoots just fine.

I do wish 92Ds or P250s were still made, and I wish CZ would make a DAO P-07 with a well done trigger.

Here's a post that summarizes this:
https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?31326-Suggestions-for-replacement-carry-piece&p=744301&viewfull=1#post744301

Happy to answer further questions.

That's my next Malkoff, using a MD3 body. Not sure on which head though.
Are you running 2 18500 batteries?

Yes on the pair of 18500 cells, but different model in each.

The M91T version is using a tailcap from a Surefire 6PX, which can be found occasionally on ebay. The SF tailcap is unshrouded, meaning the clicky button stands proud out of the back which makes it (for me) a better choice for use with the icepick hold. It's also reduces the AOL of the light by about a quarter inch, and as a consequences less length inside the body for the cells. So flat-top IMR cells are required to fit, in my case Keeppower IMR 18500 1100mAh (https://www.illumn.com/batteries-chargers-and-powerpax-carriers/batteries/18500-keeppower-imr18500-1100mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html) cells. Run time on these cells is about 40 minutes, which for the intended application of the light I find adequate;

https://i.ibb.co/7CGKTWB/91T-1.jpg

The 91B version uses a standard Malkoff tailcap, which in combination with one ring from a body extender kit (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/malkoff-devices-md-body-extender-kit) leaves room for a pair of Keeppower 18500 2000mAh (https://www.illumn.com/batteries-chargers-and-powerpax-carriers/batteries/18500-keeppower-2000mah-panasonic-ncr18500-protected-button-top.html) protected cells. Runtime on high is just over an hour, and 12+ hours on low. This is definitely a more general purpose light;

https://i.ibb.co/8BPHwvC/M91B-3.jpg

If one of the primary roles of the light will be for use with a pistol, the longer throw/higher lux of the M91T is the way to roll. The M91B could certainly be used for that purpose as well, but it's lux rating is 8500 vs. the 20,000 for the T version. The higher the lux, the longer the reach and the more "blinding" it is for anyone getting hit in the eyes with it.

FWIW, the MD2 M61HOT (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/malkoff-mid-sized-led-flashlights/products/m61hot-md2?variant=21235086723) is the same head performance-wise as the M91T, only with a different voltage range (for use with a single 18650 cell). It can also be used with the SF tailcap, but a flat-top IMR 18650 cell will be required to fit. At least for me I find the longer MD3 body a little easier to use with the various one-hand techniques, and IMO better for use as an impact tool;

https://i.ibb.co/85PfCmZ/Carry-1.jpg

The MD3 lights (M91T in particular) also serve admirably as WMLs (I like the dual-functionality approach). Here is the M91T with shrouded tailcap mounted on my 1187P - the OAL of the light is just right;

It's my first SF "combat" light and the design finally makes the Rogers technique appealing to me. Doesn't work with any of my existing light carriers though so I have one of these (https://www.daranichtactical.com/category_s/1856.htm) on order to try. I fitted this light with an EDC Plus X60LT P60 Drop-in (https://www.edcplus.com/p60-dropins-c-3_18/edc-plus-x60lt-p60-xpl-hi-v2-1-mode-cool-white-p-240.html).

So I had gone back to the G19 because I could never get comfortable (in the wearing, not the use) of my JM 2.5 holster I have for my preferred carry, the 92C. This morning I made a mod to make it more like my Incog. So far as I can tell, it’s going to make a huge difference. Little did I realize until I checked the web site, this is kind of what the 2.0 is like. Live and learn.

I’m going to run this for a while, and maybe pickup a 2.0 down the road. The holster deal is what’s been delaying me from considering an LTT compact. If this works out, that might be the next step. This fiddling is going to cost $ :eek:

The HST are the best performing .38 out there IMO but their wadcutteresque profile sucks for reloading quickly from a strip or loader.
The CD's have about the most tapered nose profile out there along with the poly plug which makes them index in the cylinder super quick and easy.

First impressions... I’m extremely pleased with the Hill People Gear Runner Kit Bag, it’s extremely slim front to back and allows me to carry my G19 (spare mag TBD after I find an anchor solution), keys, wallet and cellphone without me getting belted up. This is my quick 5am coffee setup while I’m sneaking out and back in the the house trying not to wake anyone up. Does it scream “gun” to someone else?🤷🏻*♂️ The only people I encounter are the ladies serving me caffeine in the drive through. I’m making some slight tweaks to make it work for me like removing the paracord to the pistol area since it’s only real use for me is to close that compartment. Leaving the tiny gap and using the paracord for the admin pocket on that side allows you to pull open the pistol area quickly and efficiently (practice on not muzzling yourself on the draw!) I use a Dale Fricke trigger cover plus a Tau Development Group Striker Control device to safely “holster” my Glock back up while aiming away from my body or anyone else. I’m thinking I will have plenty other ways to use this bag and I’m going to explore some other sizes including their Belt Pack which I was going to order first but realized it was thicker than I wanted for now.

01/12/20: update below
I’ve been using this sucker beyond its intended use and I love it! I’m hoping Hill People Gear makes a future Belt Pack that’s only a 1” depth in snubby size that I’d add to my carry routine. I’m actually glad the current Belt Pack took a little longer to come out and I got impatient and ordered the Runner’s bag after a ridiculous amount of research. I’m a big guy so I can get away with a minimalist setup and wear it under my zip up sweater if I want the kit bag concealed. I even wore it open to the convenience store and it’s confirmed what I’ve learned over the years which is that the general public do not pay attention to your appearance. In California so few people have a CCW not many look for others carrying. I did remove the HPG logo (sorry guys) which does stick out IMO. I’d prefer something color coordinated, smaller and subtle. Oh and I even wore it to work and nobody knew until I asked, “Does this make me look fat?” 🤣 The response is that they didn’t even notice it initially, but once you see it you can’t unsee it. This goes to show you that you can be creative when carrying a firearm concealed, and it comes down to each individual’s body type, needs, environment and level of dedication. I don’t carry mouse guns or anything I have problems shooting past non typical handgun distances.

Though I'm constantly experimenting, these are my current EDC lights.

The bottom light is used for general illumination purposes. It is a 100% Malkoff light comprised of a (now discontinued) 1CR123 shrouded body (current version here (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/mdc-ha-1cr123-body-only)), a VME bezel (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/vme-malkoff-valiant-concepts-head) and a M61L drop-in (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-6p-g2-c2-etc-6-9-volts/products/m61l-low-output-to-fit-surefire), running on a 16340 cell. I'm finding its 230-lumen output with 2+ hours of runtime a good balance for my needs. It rides unnoticed in the bottom of my front pants pocket.

The top light, what I refer to as my Light Saber (discussed here (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?40678-Malkoff-E2HT-Light-Saber)) is configured entirely as a SD light. It's made up of a Malkoff E2 Hyper Throw head (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-e1-e2-and-scout-lights/products/e2-super-throw-scout-m600-2cr123-high-output-head), a Surefire L4 Digital Lumamax body from ebay with a Lumens Factory 2-way Long Clip (https://www.lumensfactory.com/en/product_detail.php?pid=412), and a twisty tailcap from a Surefire Tactician that I found on the M4C equipment exchange. It rides in a Kytex Gear horizontal belt carrier (http://www.kytexgear.com/products-page/surefire-carriers/horizontal-surefire-carrier/) at the 11 o'clock position in total comfort yet readily accessible for fast deployment. Alternatively, it rides fine clipped to the inside of a pocket.

Perhaps the biggest take-away is that two EDC lights are better than one, and having each tightly-configured for a specific task is working very well for me.

It is an Emerson Knives Kwaiken - One of Ernie's 'Signature Series' blades, limited to 63-pieces (this one is #62 of 63). If you find one for sale today, it will probably cost as much as a Colt 1911.

50367

I do not actually normally carry a fixed blade this big, instead opting for one of Shivworks' Clinch Picks (on the right) which are about a hundred bucks new from Shivworks Product Group.

The Clinch Pick is an excellent blade for its intended purpose of defensive/martial blade use. It's kind of a mediocre utility knife. That's of course, because of the reverse edge configuration, which works nicely if you do a lot of rope or pull cuts, but sucks if you do any kind of chopping.

For bushcraft work it is tough to beat a Mora! I have four or five of them around here, one in each vehicle, one in a tacklebox, a couple of more out there in the ether some place. I've given away a bunch of them too.

If you want something a bit 'fancier' but still robust for bushcraft type work, the ESEE 4 (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ESEE+4&ref=nb_sb_noss_2) is a great size and extremely robust knife.

Thanks to a kind friend, I have two of them, one is packed in my field work kit, the other has been passed around among my colleagues and friends, it went to Africa last year and just came back from Brazil a few days ago.

I pretty much have to ditto that.

We carry Moras as part of our ten essentials. I've I was going to live out some kind of fantasy where I walked into the woods with nothing but I knife, I'd want my ESEE 4.

That is high praise for the ESEE 4 thank you! I actually have been eyeing that up as well. As a survival knife I'd say the ESEE 4 would be hard to beat. I would consider a knife like that as you lost everything and you only have that knife to survive. And it doesn't seem too big for intricate task either, like feather sticks and notching and such.

I can't say enough good things about that Mora Eldris, very small, yet can do a lot of daily tasks with ease. I've started a lot of fires using ferro rods with it, opening boxes, cutting rope... only thing is you definitely need a different sheath for it. I'll get a picture posted soon of it. I found a store on Ebay named Randy's Knives who made a really nice sheath for it. Has a spyderco G clip so you can wear it vertically or horizontally or just take the G clip off and wear it as a neck knife.

My current EDC lights.

Top light is the Malkoff E2XTD head (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-e1-e2-and-scout-lights/products/malkoff-e2xtd-3-4-4-2-volts) (650 lumens/70,000 candela) that is dedicated for defensive use. The SF body was purchased on ebay, the tailcap is the Lumens Factory Tactician clone (https://www.lumensfactory.com/en/product_detail.php?pid=501) with the McClicky switch modified for momentary-only operation (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?40984-Modifying-the-McClicky-for-Momentary-only-Operation). It is powered by a 16650 Li-ion cell. I find the ergonomics of this light to be excellent for one hand use, and at 70k candela able to create a very effective photonic barrier. It's not a pleasant experience getting a blast in the eyes from this light. I clip this light inside my left-front pants pocket when venturing out at night.

The bottom light is my general illumination & task light. It is comprised of a Malkoff 1CR123 shrouded body (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/mdc-ha-1cr123-body-only) (old style), a VME head (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/parts-and-miscellaneous-items/products/vme-malkoff-valiant-concepts-head) and a M61L drop-in (https://malkoffdevices.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-6p-g2-c2-etc-6-9-volts/products/m61l-low-output-to-fit-surefire) which is rated at 230 lumens. I find the output of this drop-in is a good balance of output and runtime (about two hours) for my needs, and with a simple 1-mode operation, suitable for all tasks. It is powered by a single 16340 Li-ion cell. This light resides fulltime in the bottom of my right-front pants pocket.

I'm not sure what happened to the resolution because it is very good on my Macbook (and I uploaded it with maximum resolution). Oh well. Anyway, it's nothing exactly state-of-the-art, but I do love my Beretta. I did finally consolidate my wallet & iPhone into one leather case. I guess that is an upgrade of sorts for me.

PX4 Storm Compact Inox with some Langdon upgrades

Dara MTO Minimalist AIWB Holster

Bravo Concealment Magazine Pouch

Benchmade Mel Pardue knife

Leatherman Micra

Streamlight Nano (I'm not much of an EDC light guy)

I have other pistol options, but my Beretta is my go-to EDC pistol. I also have a ported S&W PC M&P9 M2.0 Shield that I will carry often after it warms up, but I carry the PX4 Storm Compact all year.

I also carry a S&W M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact in its flush magazine configuration sometimes when I don't feel like carrying appendix. If I am going somewhere where I absolutely can't print (you know what I am talking about), I'll carry a Ruger LCP II in my pocket or otherwise deeply concealed. I also like to sport my SIG P229 Enhanced Elite chambered in 357 SIG once in awhile, but that's typically my nightstand gun.

Once in awhile I will carry two pistols typically using one of the M&P's as a left hip 3 o'clock OWB high riding pancake holster to back up my PX4 which I carry right-handed AIWB. I won't typically carry an extra mag if I have two guns as I can draw one of the Smiths faster than I or the other guy can typically do reload, but having a second pistol is also a good option in my opinion for arming someone else to even out the odds if necessary.

I'll admit, however, far more times than not, I just grab a pistol, wallet/iPhone case, keys and nothing else (I'm not the most prepared guy, but I always have at least one pistol. Always).

I'm usually a one gun guy (340PD in a pocket) but due to the current financial meltdown in my hometown I have acquired a cheap apartment in a much larger city a few hours away and am spending a lot of time there trying to diversify my business.
By cheap apartment I mean I can hear chickens every morning, smell BBQ smoke every evening and people park on their "lawn".
So 2 guns it is for a while.

To really intimidate the natives, I think some 7" or 9" inseam shorts would be awesome.

That's because I only recently traded into this 1911 (traded off a brace of H&K's and a 1301 to another pf.com member for it).
I traded into it as a range toy, then started shooting it more because it doesn't aggravate my tendonitis (all steel 1911 is a pussycat on recoil) since I was shooting it so much and it's proven itself reliable I started carrying it.
It's not very size efficient, but it shoots and carries well and is easy on the elbows and wrists.

My other two "1911's" are a 5" Stainless Colt Competition Government and a Coonan Arms .357magnum. :cool:

Who makes the mag carrier? Thanks!

I don't remember. I believe I got it in a trade and it's been in the holster box for a while now. The small clip always let it move around too much with my old setup, so I stopped using it. I just changed belts and I can position the tail of the new belt to keep the pouch in place, so I'm trying it again.

Here's a similar one, and I can't help but wonder if the one I have is an older version of it: https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/AIWB-High-Ride-Single-Pistol-Mag-Pouch.html (https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/AIWB-High-Ride-Single-Pistol-Mag-Pouch.html)

I'm really enjoying it. Bought it from a fellow HAM friend of mine. It's very easy to use and program and with the Abbree 18" antenna I can reach pretty far even at my place in the sticks. I've only dabbled in the digital stuff but I am enjoying learning. I don't think you would be disappointed with any of your picks but I only have experience with the Anytone.

KC3OOP

Thanks. I'm still trying to decide if I want to dip my toe into the digital waters. I haven't yet found that "killer app" for it. My main interest in radio is backcountry and off-grid ops (lately in the form of SOTA) and I'm not seeing the application there, but I'm an unrepentant tinkerer and could probably find plenty to tinker with in digital.

I'm good friends with the owner of a holster company. It was a quick cludge job because I needed a px4 holster that would work with the tlr 7. Me and him made it real fast one night in the shop. He definitely wants nothing to do with doing it again tho.

Both of these are Lego builds that use Malkoff, Oveready and Surefire for the major components.

The light on the left with the GITD green grip ring is my EDC general purpose light. On a fresh cell it starts off at about 650 lumens and drops to 200 in about 45 minutes. It has more of a wide, evenly distributed beam pattern which is great for general illumination tasks.

The light on the left is my secondary EDC light carried at night. It is also about 650 lumens but the beam is narrowly focused into a 70,000 candela hot spot. It is a direct-drive, high-current head that is insanely bright within its narrow beam.

Both of these lights are perfect for a cigar hold and work very well using the Surefire-Rogers technique (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXsuUBle5MM) with a pistol.

Note - the grip rings are available from Lumens Factory (https://www.lumensfactory.com/en/product_detail.php?pid=427), are of excellent quality and fit the old Z-style SF lights perfectly. Both of these lights can be built with new, currently available components.

Fire ants, wasps, hornets, some scorpions - pretty much anything with a substantial alkaloid as part of its venom. Fortunately, that's mostly insects with these things.

Fortunately, I've never had to stab myself with one of these things. I'm pretty careful to not piss off wasps, hornets, and ants - but fire ants are EVERYWHERE once you get past a certain latitude heading south. Fortunately, they are not found here in Illinois, presently (give it time though).

Rob - no one ever believes me when I tell them I've only been stung three times in my really long, outdoors life, but it's true. The last 2 I was almost too late - receiving CPR + the epinephrine to "bring me back." The 1st one was when I was 20 - had never been stung before, hence no EpiPen - and was enroute to summer camp in the USAR. While we were waiting to get back on the road, some morons were throwing rocks at a hornets' nest and I got nailed in the back of my neck. Wasn't a big deal until about 1/2 hour later when I passed out in the back of a deuce and a half. Next thing I know, I'm in a field hospital, where the medic's jeep ambulance (who was 2 vehicles behind mine in the convoy - how lucky was that?) had taken me. The Army kinda struggled for the last 5 years of my enlistment - whaddya do with a guy whose MOS is 11B10 and is allergic to insect stings? Would you believe.....tell him: "Don't get stung? Yeah, bet you would.

Hmm, 9/30/20 next week will be 11/30/20 so nearly two months. And what's changed?

Well...fall/winter is here which means more pockets. So, now I can carry my favorite bookweight around with me more easily. I always carry my journal and a pen, for writing down my thoughts on Social Justice, but the bookweight can be difficult to carry. Oh and I rewrapped my Clinch Pick with some fresh tape...

10+ weeks with the UTX-85 in my pocket. In 20+ years of daily carrying a knife, never has one stayed so long as my main carry knife. I've said before, I was a member of the "Knife of the Month" club, which actually was sometimes "knife of the day" club. The UTX-85, my hockey tape wrapped Clinch Pick, and a 2xAAA flashlight have been my daily companions.

The flashlight recently underwent an upgrade from a Streamlight Stylus to a Quark Preon2 MKIII. The Quark use a high-color render Nichia 219 led and is much nicer beam with slightly more power than the Streamlight. Only thing I don't like about it is the clunky pocket clip it comes with, and the multi-mode programming (meh, whatever). I popped the clip off my Streamlight and popped it on the Quark. Then, tired of the mismatch between black clip and nickel flashlight, I stripped the black coating off the clip and hit it with a rubber flap wheel to dull the polish down.

Bam!
