What are your impressions of the RMT? I've been wanting to get one... seems simpler to apply and faster than the SOFTT-Ws I currently carry.

What are your impressions of the RMT? I've been wanting to get one... seems simpler to apply and faster than the SOFTT-Ws I currently carry.

Assuming you meant to quote me.

The 1.5" RMT does not pack flat, so carrying it in a flatpack is not going work as well as a SOF-T or the like.

That said, the 1.5" and the 2" RMT's are awesomely diverse and can be extensively used/trained it. The SOF-T's are designed as a "one time use" type of application and you should have a training version and a personal use version which are kept separate. The RMT's are not designed like that. You can train with the same RMT you carry extensively and without concern for its effectiveness. The 2" RMT is an overt carry TQ and should be seriously considered for one handed application (of the overt carry nature = kit/bags/etc) as it works really well. The leather "bite strap" which is also a pull strap works as intended on both designs and I for one will probably be switching most of my overt / bag carry TQ's over to the RMT very soon.

Also you can get a pediatric RMT which is smaller, has a 120lb break mechanism and designed for kids/animals.

I should probably make a bigger post, and I will soon, I am trying to get enough time on them both before I post anything of value - I am also carrying them on duty to see if I can use them and their effectiveness, but it is winter so the slow down is starting.

Awesome - thanks for that!

I, for one, would be interested in a bigger post when you have the thoughts/data to fuel it :)

I am sure, others will be as well, as such I am already compiling the data, but without real world first hand experience I am not going to post anything. So until I get to use it in the real world (which may not be until summer '18) I won't post a big, long winded, post about it.

I may end up posting a shorter "observation" post about it just as a primer, but again, all the training in the world doesn't mean anything if you can't make it work in real time.

Thanks, yup a Sparks SSII, and I couldn't agree more. I used a 5shot SME until about this time last year, then broke out the Sparks SSII (had it for a while) to try SS IWB again. I recently found a Sparks VMII on another board, and it should be here today. Everyone raves about them, so I'm looking forward to trying it.

No matter what I carry, I don't think I could ever go back to kydex at this point. The SME spoiled me for comfort.

Thanks. The wife and I are a different story, but I won't take my kids to any movie that's not in the AM. There were a total of eleven people in that showing, and I only saw about four more in the lobby on the way out. Also took a pack full of warm clothes, med kit(s), and reloads.

That's a HighNoon Hideaway in horsehide w/clip.
Excellent minimalist, low riding AIWB holster for sub-compacts.
No wedge, no tuck, rides low, so it's best for short barrels and stubby grips like the H&K SK's.

That particular holster is around 10 years old with daily use.
It also went through two SouthNarc ECQC classes (including the entanglement stuff with my blue gun SK in it).
It's pretty nasty looking now, but the horsehide still holds its shape and it functions perfectly.
I have another for my P30SK and my VP9SK.
I tried one with my P2000 but the muzzle poked me in the nads and it was a no go.

What pen is that, please?

It's a modified Zebra. The body is from a F-701, the clicker and clip are from a F-402, and then I fiddled with the guts to put a Rite in the Rain cartridge.

Modification write up (https://penthusiast.wordpress.com/2014/07/25/the-space-zebra-f-7401/)

I'm pondering reverse engineering it and having some pieces turned and making a pen up that has no plastic at all (the 701 still has plastic guts inside). I've been looking for the perfect budget steel pen and probably became too much of a pen nerd.

Worth every penny. I carry it with jeans, khakis, shorts, sweats, gym shorts , etc. now. It changes the orientation from the factory sheath but I prefer it. I carry mine weak side appendix. I never really liked the original carry method because I wasn’t able to conceal it with my normal wardrobe. I’m 6’3” and finding shirts long enough to hang down well below the cp isn’t easy.

I've been a member of the Guns & Ammo Forum since I was 14 years old. For the past 12 years we've has a G&A forum shoot on every Memorial Day weekend. One of the members owns a couple hundred acre farm in Tn. and hosts the shoot/cookout every year. Almost all of the visiting members stay at the Motel 6...it's clean, has a nice restaurant attached, and is about 5 miles from the farm. Friday and Saturday night before Memorial Day, that particular Motel 6 has between 30 and 50 gun forum members, a couple hundred guns and THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo. On the last weekend in May, I don't think there's a "less likely to be fucked with" Motel 6 in all of America.

It's a Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph.
It's in the WR100 line, but I can no longer find the orange and black version online...I'm assuming that they discontinued this particular model.

Slysz Bowie. It’s buttery smooth. I disassembled it and used Chris Reeve flourinated grease and it made it even better.

Beautifully clean profile on that knife.

It's design is really efficient and tidy. There are no sharp edges exposed when the blade is closed, and the blade length can be no longer without getting too close to the end of the scales. It's stabby/pointy enough, with sufficient belly to be really useful. It's ultra smooth on bushings, and slices beautifully. It's my absolute favorite folder design

Black is the only color that matters. 90% of my t-shirts are black. In fact, just yesterday, I got a box from Royal Apparel with 10 more black t-shirts (Made in USA, Tubular Weave, blackest black available on a commercial shirt).

When they dropped VantaBlack - I wanted a t-shirt made of it - alas, I learned that because of what vantablack is (micro carbon tubules) it's not appropriate to wear, because the tubules can break from the shirt and get into your lungs (bad news bears). Black 2.0 is safe for clothing, but no one has figured out how to die it yet (but I'm working on it). I seriously want a shirt so black, I disappear when I wear it.

I should say - The guy who created Black 2.0 has demonstrated you can dye with it. But it isn't really any more black than most black shirts you get retail, to get it really black you need to paint it onto the shirt and that doesn't really get you anywhere, except a very stiff shirt with mediocre paint coverage as it wears off. I'm thinking of trying something like steaming the base shirt extensively and then dying it in a hot mixture of Black 2.0 thinned with water. That might get it deep into the fibers. Doing that two or three times might be what it takes.

Ostensibly - a company has made a blacker t-shirt (Viperblack), but having seen it, I'm not convinced it's any more "black". One thing to consider if you want to make a "Blacker than Black" cloak is stage velvet - ShowTex Shakespeare or Goethe Velvet in "Ultra Black" were certified by NASA as the "blackest fabric". And they are pretty damn black, but they are not matte black (like Vanta or Black 2.0).

Thanks.

It's a JMCK Universal, which I prefer when carrying the 43 with 6rd mag. I have a Claw 2.0 Long version as well, which works better for carrying with Vickers +2 extensions.

The velcro is to help keep the metal clip in place when adjusted to different angles via a single screw. Loop side is on holster, hook side is on the back of the metal clip.

Yep, that's it. I use basically just run it as an appendix holster. It works well, enough movement to be comfortable. Concealment under a t-shirt isn't good, due to a lack of tuck, but under a vest/jacket it is fine.

Thanks. I got some plans for this M10. It’s a horribly done SB to RB conversion. So I don’t feel bad hacking on it. Thinking of changing the barrel to a M15 2” (just got one for $35) and having a C&S Extrme Duty rear milled in. Then I’m gonna have the front sight milled off, have a dovetail cut in (thinking S&W M&P dovetail) and then having a HD type front sight installed. Got a buddy who’s a gunsmith that can do the work and don’t think it’ll be too $$$.

Brunch at FF was great, but pricey. I sucked it up this time because it was in celebration of our wedding anniversary and we weren't exchanging gifts (we've reached that stage where we don't need/want more "stuff" at each and every gift-giving occasion).

A comment on Jay23. Yesterday, dress circumstance led me to go with the 642 EDC setup. It was quite similar. Some changes were that instead of my usual Surefire flashlight, I had a 5.11 Penlight in a shirt pocket. I did have a SWAT-T Tourniquet in a back pocket.

Here's the rub. I took a Bianchi Speed strip and put it in a watch pocket of my nice slacks. Later when I went to retrieve it, rounds had fallen out because the thing just cracked apart. I had a couple with little plastic rings around the rounds' rear end. I've had these strips for ages. That was a surprise though. Maybe they got old and brittle like me?

They do, especially when used a lot. Whenever I use mine, I flex them back and forth while looking for cracks.

The Tuff Products strips aren't any better, but at least come in a variety of calibers and lengths.

Could be. I keep mine in my back pocket repeatedly sitting on it all day and have not have a single round move and the strip still looks pristine. My strips are only a few weeks old though.

Good to hear about your experience.

I've used Bianchi speedstrips as spare revolver ammo carry for decades, and never had them break or tear yet, though mostly of course they just stay loaded, with little repetitive loading-unloading practice. Admittedly, they're made of a pretty soft polymer.

I've more recently acquired a bunch of the Tuff Strips, which are considerably stiffer than the Bianchi offering. Hopefully they're tougher as well.

I've had some older Bianchi Speed Strips break at the tab after several years of usage.

Now I use both the Speed Strips and Tuff Strips for my two revolvers. Speed Strips for my 642. Tuff Strips for the 686+

Glenn E. Meyer

My strips were pretty old. They go back to when I bought the 642, tens of years ago. Anway, I found another in the box of gun junk. It fell apart with the slightest flex. So I'd better buy some new ones. I went to Amazon as I have some credit from a gift card but they listed them as add-ons if I buy $25.00 of other crap. That's stupid. I'll see if the local stores have some. Midway does, I saw but have to pay shipping.

Got some speed loaders I can throw in a pocket if it ever becomes jacket weather again.

What's the story on the Opinel, dude?

I give a bit of background here: https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?28749-Folding-knives-(or-anything-sharp)-pic-thread&p=783580&viewfull=1#post783580

But basically, it's a 'Raw Handle' Opinel No. 9 - https://www.opinel-usa.com/pocket-knives/classic-pocket-knives/handles-carve/rough-handle-n8-wild-cherry-wood-carbon-steel - That I cut down the blade to be Chicago-legal (2.5") and then chopped and shaped the handle to optimize it for reverse edge grips. Then, because I'm lame, I torched the handle for color and acid etched the blade. The whole idea, was to make an inconspicuous-type knife, that looks kind of like something grandpa would carry, but it locks up tightly, can be used reverse edge, and with a sheath (kydex or field expedient) can be pressed into service as a pseudo-fixed blade.

So far it's working pretty well. A couple of my coworkers have seen the knife now and haven't paid any attention to it vs. my Spyderco P'Kal that got attention from colleagues before. For 15 bucks and an evening's worth of work using a Dremel I figured it was worth a shot. Seems to be working.

Wallet is a nylon Mission wallet with my cards, cash, and ID, a 2004-vintage CRK Small Sebenza, and a Fenix E05. The The J-frame is a S&W 32-7 with factory bobbed hammer, hammer-mounted firing pin, all forged internals from 2005. I gave it a set of CT Lasergrips (LG105). The holster is a Flashbang Betty IWB I picked up cheap and converted to AIWB with a longer, better positioned, and more stable belt clip. The watch is a Seiko SKX009.

My Ontario Rat 1 fits the knife slot, though it sticks out past the end of the wallet by quite a bit. I would think the Large Sebenza would fit, but it would also overhang the wallet. By how much, I don't know. I'm not using it currently becauseI got tired of flashing my knife at everyone whenever I needed my wallet (a particular concern when I was in the UK recently). I had other minor issues with the wallet. Those were not design issues, but issues related to how I use my wallet.

If you PM me your address, I'll send the wallet for you to test fit and try it out for a few days or a couple weeks. That way, you'll know if it works for you before you spend money.

Straight drop only, mid/low ride, exactly the way I like it for carrying a 26.
For me the wedges, tucks and wings don't do anything to enhance concealment of the 26 they just make getting a grip harder and poke and prod me in places I don't want to be poked or prodded.
I've carried my 19X in the Kramer with only the occasional mag baseplate print when I twist to the left (wearing just a T-shirt).

I tried an ankle kit but struggled with it staying put ... I've had the best luck with an ITS pocket EDC kit, especially since I switched to a front pocket wallet. I throw it in my back pocket without a second thought.

It's from Prometheus Design Werx (https://prometheusdesignwerx.com). It's a Christmas rendition of one of their more popular patches. Fortunate to win it in their 2017 Christmas giveaway. I'm not a huge moral patch guy, but I do love their stuff. Wish I could have caught one of the recently released PDW Sebenzas. They've doubled in price on the secondary market though, like most of their stuff does.

Dual bulbs, with two different beam patterns, 6 different outputs from 15-1000 lumens, and most importantly, will act as a spare phone battery. I don't think the light will attract any attention like other batteries with CR123 batteries in them. I was gonna pick up an external battery for the trip anyway, but I think this will be perfect. and then it'll become a nightstand light

In April 1923, Hod Roberson and fellow brand inspector Dave Allison were sitting on the porch of the Gaines Hotel in Seminole, Texas. They were in town to testify at the trial of two rustlers. The evening before the trial, the rustlers attacked Roberson and Allison on the porch and killed both of them in a wild series of pistol shots and shotgun blasts. When she heard the shots, Robinson's wife ran downstairs from her room in the hotel and shot both of her husband's attackers with his small automatic back up pistol. Although wounded both rustlers escaped after bringing an end to the career of a gunman with a Texas Ranger badge.

How do you prevent the roll-out without a wing or wedge? Or do you just deal with it since it’s a lot thinner?

I don’t carry appendix much anymore because I find the foam wedges to be really uncomfortable. Even if I use a G19 holster it doesn’t tuck all that well without some help.

A lot of kettlebell swings means well developed obliques, which gives me a natural cleft that hides everything.
I really dislike wedges, wings and other assorted doodads, just give be a straight drop with a relatively low ride and i'm good.
