Hey hey easy there!

[emoji12]

I must have grown up in the wrong part of WVa, I don't even remember seeing a 'hundred until I went up to New Yawk. (Although in a slightly convoluted way this might prove your point)

On a complete tangent, damn people are suffering from floods in my old neck of the woods. Although this was a pretty good quote from the sheriff:
https://m.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/4q59x7/meanwhile_in_west_virginia/

We only carry plastic here ;)

On a more serious note, the flood was really, really bad. My distant cousin lost his life and four houses. He would've died from despair had the water not taken him.

I am not supposed to take pics of who I work, but.... If it's in a public forum, I can't stop the paparazzi... So since this pic was in the NY Times, TMZ, and Daily Mail... I just happened to be in the background. I spent the day, armed, around dozens of hard core anti gun types. It was nice to surf this forum surrounded by them.

(Note: I was not guarding Leo, he just happened to be around my detail.... )

Saw JLo, Leo, Martha Steward, Vera Wang, Candice Bergan, and many more VERY anti gun folks. Also got to see and meet some good folks.

If I ever meet folks over beers, there could...maybe...possibly.... be some interesting stories. But not much I can share on line.

During Election years, USSS borrows Special Agents from other agencies to assist with USSS protection duties. Pre-DHS it was other Treasury Department LE Agencies including US Customs and ATF.

USSS was rolled over from Treasury to DHS after 9/11 and US Customs Investigations was rolled into HSI/ICE when DHS was created.

Even with the help, being a USSS SA during an election year is a tough gig.

Sig P225 A1, with JMCK AIWB holster and mag carrier. Sentinel knife from the group buy, Fenix LD12 light, and the recently added Swiss Army Knife. If I have a fixed blade on me, I find the Swiss Army knife much more practical than other folding knives.

Which model of SAK did you go with?

I've been thinking along those lines as well. I've worked pretty hard to get no clips or other obvious gun guy shit visible, the Clinch Pick is a... socially unacceptable cutting tool, and whipping out the Endura that I have to make myself carry can still raise an eyebrow or two. A Swiss Army knife on the other hand is familiar enough to most people, and more importantly not stabby looking.

My only real parameters are: 1) small, non-threatening blade; 2) philips head screwdriver; 3) flathead screwdriver; and 4) fits on a keychain/not massive.

The SAK I carry every day is the Executive. Pretty much my favorite knife. I have three of them. 1" pen blade, 2" longer pen/small spear, the nail file tip works for Phillips (if you are careful and just tightening something), the fruit blade has a small slot head screwdriver on it, and it has scissors.

9907

Spyderco fan, too. The Endura's a good knife, but perhaps not the lowest profile blade to carry in an environment where blades raise eyebrows. Small and cute get by much easier - the SAK, the Dragonfly, a Case Peanut, etc. the Sage 2 is about as big as I want to try to get away with in my current employ (a school). When Inworled for the DOD, there were folks in my office who carried large auto knives. An Endura might have gotten attention for being cool, but that's it.

I got the Swiss Army EvoWood 10 for my Groomsmen and got myself one as well. In my opinion it's a little big for a key chain but I have 2 keys on my key chain and keep it real simple. You can get a much smaller SAK like the executive shown above that still meets your requirements. I use it to open alcohol the most, followed by opening boxes, then cutting limes.

I've only had it about a week so the newness hasn't worn off. I have the gb1 and to be honest I didn't like it the first 48 hrs. I usually carry a pm2. The gb1 isn't made to flip open and closed a lot like the pm2. In fact it tore up my thumb pretty good. There's no cutout to disengage the liner lock. But I started using a different method to close it and it doesn't bother my thumb now.

This thing really excels at cutting. I don't think one can fully appreciate the design until they cut stuff with it. The fit and finish is incredible for the price point.

I would've went with the gb2 because it's lighter and has a cutout for the liner lock but I picked this up for $90 and couldn't pass it up.

It's not a tactical blade and it's made to do one thing-cut. Mr Bradley knows how to make blades that do that.

Even though it's a liner lock, really more of a frame lock, it's sturdy. I chopped a small tree limb with it for fun and didn't have any reservations.

The Whar-Biner is stealthy enough that I've carried it onto an airplane.
I just clipped all my keys to it and tossed it into the Rubbermaid tray with my watch, wallet, belt and shoes. It didn't even get a second glance.

My ShivWorks Dixie Top-Popper has attracted far more sideways glances and comments than the much more dangerous Whar-Biner.

I gots to know: how do you make that work in scrubs?

Glock goes appendix (with the holster tucked under an undershirt), Clinch Pick goes at about 11:00, TQ goes in the back pocket, Surefire goes in the left pants pocket, Spyderco drops down into the right pants pocket with my car keys.

Also, I'm very fat and I wear the waist of my pants under my stomach, instead of around my navel. As gross as it is to picture (sorry for the mental image) my stomach actually covers the gun. It's a much slower draw (which is why I don't carry appendix EXCEPT when I'm in scrubs), but the option is between carrying something 19 sized @ 12:00, or carrying something LCP sized @ 3:00.

Ah, I didn't realize there were scrubs that accommodate a belt.

Eli
10-06-2016, 03:41 PM
Yup. I HATE drawstrings on "real" pants. Even before I bought the Dickies, I sewed belt loops onto my scrub pants. The Dickies only have three belt loops, more would be preferable, but it isn't irritating enough to bother sewing extra loops on.

Got in my new dark star gear aiwb holster from the wizard sleeve himself. I immediately fell in love with this thing, it's very comfortable, conceals great, the retention is strong and makes an audible click.

Yes it's a collaboration between the maker Joe Watson and Darryl Bolke aka Nyeti aka Dagga Boy.

What belt is that?

Arc'teryx conveyor belt, I have two of them and really like them for aiwb. I find them stiff enough but not too stiff for aiwb and it's a very low profile buckle that locks the belt in place. They are also only $40 bucks and come in a host of colors.

It's the Imminent Threat Solutions EDC (ITS-MED-004) inside their Slimline Pouch. I don't see the 004 kit listed on the ITS website (https://store.itstactical.com/medical.html) anymore, just the more expensive 003 kit with a better tourniquet and latest Combat Gauze. The SWAT-T is not optimal, but I wanted the most compact kit I could find, and this was it as of two(ish) years ago. I know if it wasn't small, I wouldn't carry it. Dark Angel Medical still has a similarly sized/priced kit for $39 (http://darkangelmedical.com/pocket-d-a-r-k-mini-trauma-kit/).

It's a Safariland metal clip on mag carrier. I like the simple design and the fact that it is metal and easy on and off. I found though that the mag could fall out if I hit it on the doorframe of the car so I added some cloth tape to make sure it stays in. It also sits nice and low and close to the body. The best part is they are $12.

My EDC when in permissible environments has been pretty consistent for a while now. The only variations are the Mk6 canister or the Spitfire, usually not both. Cell phone not shown, as it was taking the picture. Astute observers will notice a significant degree of PF influence, including:

Glock 19 (with Gadget!) in a Keepers AIWB holster (Pistol-Forum)
Spare mag in a JM Custom Kydex AIWB carrier (Pistol-Forum)
Clinch Pick (Southnarc)
Mk6 canister and/or Spitfire (Chuck Haggard)
Quark Tactical (Pistol-Forum)

Everything you need, PF approved! ;)

The only addition I need to make is an AFAK for the trauma gear and the SOFTT-W that stays in the car.

Longer answer... The G19 isn't too much shorter, holster wise, than the G17 and in virtually all cases the G17 is a better holster anyway as the bottom corner is moved just a little but enough to help a ton with regards to comfort.

Couple updates for 2017: Benchmade agreed to add their G10 grips to my previously purchased S30V minigrip, which weren't available when I placed my original "custom" order. Pricey, but MUCH nicer than the originals, and cheaper than some of the aftermarket options while not voiding warranty. They touched up the edge while they had it, and it is wicked sharp now. Also highly recommend the deep carry clip.

Temporarily borrowed the single output KE-1F 300 lumen head and Z68 tail cap from my M300C Surefire Scout to try out on my trusty E1B. Like the added lumens and length (it's a legit fistload, at least in my tiny paws), but the larger diameter is noticeable in the pocket. Love the O-ring finger loop expedient, but it does compromise clip carry somewhat and I tend to carry it in a jacket pocket.

Fiddling with a G43, but my Gen 2.5 26 still wins, and I like the Blade Tech Klipt. May pick up one of the new Magpul G26 mags to try out. Liking the new Quick-E loop-equipped Blade Tech Eclipse mag pouch so far...ride height is perfect for me and the split clip opens up some options on placement, is easy on/off, and plays nice with my First Spear Line One belt. Believe it is limited to 1.5 inch width, though.

There was actually a piece of plastic at the top of each loop that I trimmed off to fit, since my belt is indeed a 1.5".

But for what it's worth, I'm still using a 1/8" full-grain leather belt I got as a gift 7-8 years ago. I don't remember the brand, it's not meant to be a gun belt, but it's worked fine for IWB. I've carried a G26 or G19 with it for the last 6 years, and I've had no problems with pants staying up, guns staying in place, or holsters staying put over thousands of draws. But, since it's thinner, it never could handle anything larger than the G26 OWB, and it's aging, so it's starting to get too flexible for that.

I've been in the market for a new belt of similar construction, only thicker, for a few months now. Something like a Hank's Gunner, Bullhide, etc.

2 is 1 and 1 is none. Send me the mini-frag since you don't really have one anyhow. I'll EDC it in my front pocket like a third testicle.

It's for the ankle. My lower back hates me from years of abuse so I wanted to have a counter weight on the other side. It has a 19rd mag, TQ, and z-fold hemostat bandage is in the center pocket.

The light, an Olight S1 baton.
The Knife, a Magnum by Boker hide-away.
The Gun, a Colt 1908, 25acp.
The gun was actually my grandfather's vest pocket gun. He was a mounted Policeman in lower Manhattan during WWII. It's been told that he carried this as his just in case...My father bought the Safariland for it while he was a cop in northern NJ in the 60's to carry in his pocket. By the serial, 187XX3 it dates to 1918, I have no info on it before my grandfather.
My father has his Colt Police positive, but gave me the vest pocket. While I've shot it, I'd never carry it. The knife and the light however, come in handy.

psychologically, the developed habit of using a little jot pad solely for recording tasks and then marking those tasks complete is a great help, vs. using an app on my phone (phone being used for countless other things and therefore distracting).

I've carried a notebook/notepad daily for the past 8-9 years, it's just easier for me to write everything down and go from there. Right now, I've been carrying one of those green "government issue" notepads (https://www.amazon.com/Green-Military-Memorandum-Bound-7530-00-243-9366/dp/B0088OMX5U/) that I picked up a mess of for cheap. Not as classy as a Moleskine notpad, but it works and holds up pretty well.

minolta MD 50mm f2 manual.

f2 on mirrorless? So that's like f4 on a real camera?

sony a7ii full frame. Lens behaves as a normal lens. F stops are not usually affected like a cropped sensor would focal length. But the in body stabilization and manual lens compatible makes the a7ii an amazing camera. I have a lot of old glass (for example a 1965 helios 44-2 russian lens that's finicky as hell) that occasionally blows my mind. Focus peaking makes it a breeze.

I seem to have the 50mm on most times. I seem to favour it to the sonny 28mm FE but for macro, razor sharp pics: sony 90mm is my absolute favorite. it can pull shots like this handheld:

Ahh, yeah, that's not the average mirrorless.

this was the 50mm @f2. there's some fringing when fully zoommed in but that blurred out background....goddamn.

In line with the showoff thread... I hope to score either a 50mm f/1.2 or 85mm f/1.4 soon. Leaning 85.

Lol, I know, right? I like a few thing (dogs, knifes, guns and watches) so there's some repetition on my pics. heheheh.

It was a hard choice for me between the 85mm Batis and the 90mm. ended up with the 90 because the batis minimum focus was 80cm. for what I want to use it, there was no comparison. of course they just announced the sony 100mm....the bastards.

Since everyone here carries one or another item every day, might as well post pictures of the items, maybe saying why you carry them? Pocket dumps are good too.

Eidolon (currently) for my G19, G17 mag with a taran tactical addon, streamlight 2AA, DPx HEST Folder and a pineapple grenade.

Because sometimes you need to throw a wrench into people's plans.

Why am I not surprised to see Voodoo-Man using a grenade to start off a thread?

I've decided which knife to go with but I'm still trying to decide which watch to wear.

If I may, what holster are you using for the USP?

Amun, that's taking "open carry" to a new extreme.

I made it and have a trimmed Dr. Scholl's gel insert stuck on the other side with some velcro.

Thanks. Do you by chance have any recommendations based on other holsters you may have used for that gun?

It's a fine balancing act....
