This morning I picked up my brand-new Ruger Blackhawk (test fire date 05/20/2015) from my transfer dealer. The exterior looked great: well-polished metal and rich bluing. While looking it over at home, I noticed a little brownish fuzz right on the edge of the grip frame next to the grip panels. I figured it was just a little rust preservative from the factory, so I popped off the grip panels to wipe it down. Nope, not rust preservative, but rust. A little scrubbing with a bronze brush and Kroil removed it. Then I looked closer under strong light and noticed that the inside of the grip frame is FULL of rust...

I'll be calling Ruger on Monday morning to get a return tag. There's just no excuse for a NIB, one-month-old gun to be full of rust on the inside. I'm guessing the bluing salts weren't properly flushed/neutralized after the grip frame came out of the bluing tank.
