Looking to pick up a range finder before next winter. What are my options?

Bushnell 10x42 Fusion ARC 1 mile are what everybody around here is using for our 1000+ yard unknown distance field precision matches.

What's your price range? What features do you need?

Vectronix, Leica and Bushnell all make LRF's that I have used/do use/would use, just depends on what I want to accomplish.

Basically it comes down to how much money you want to spend. There are $200 ones and there are $12,000 ones.

Some of the guys that I shoot long range with use those and are happy with them. I have the older Bushnell 1300 and it has been fine, reading out to 1000 on sagebrush. There are better choices if your budget allows it.

sorry been busy, I would like something that go range out to 1,000 reliably and be compact/light.

I had a Leica LRF 1200 Scan, it worked really well and I'd buy another if I had future needs.

+ 1 on the Leica's. Even their bottom end stuff is better than most higher priced offerings.

Like anything optics related, buy once, cry once. If you go cheap, you may get lucky and find that is all you wanted/needed. But if you seriously want 1k, accurately and reliably, you will have to pay for it.

Have one and love it. I elk hunt in CO some years and it's been a tremendous help. I don't consider myself a long-range shooter, but estimating range in a different environment than I normally see is challenging.

I had a Nikon range finder that lasted 3 years and gave up the ghost. The Leica is SO much more sensitive and reliable.

I have the Leica and Bushnell. I find the Leica glass to be way above other rangefinders, but the Bushnell to be more accurate and capable of getting a reading.

Bushnell is about to release a pretty exciting LRF/Kestral combo, if that interests you.
