I see that HK has released the VP40 and P30SK, with both models available now. Top Gun Supply shows the P30SK in stock in DA/SA and also DA/SA with a TS for $599 (less than a 2000SK).

A NIB P30SK V1 sold on a local gun forum this week for $620.

A local shop here has a few of the P30SK's in stock; $675 I think. I've got a serious case of the wantsies, but am having a hard time justifying a purchase due to being heavily invested in Glocks.

How many did you buy? Word has it the SK shoots circles around the P320 compact. [runs away]

Held off, as I am living vicariously through your purchase of the 226 with the GGI trigger. This is more down YVK's alley -- you know, has to be something GGI can do a trigger job on.

Purchased a P30SK at a local gun store here in Lafayette a few days ago for $620. HK rep was in the store... I was told same manufacturing process as the P30, they were just trying to be more competitive in pricing these days. I tried it, fit just fine in my JM AIWB that I had on at the time. I could use a g26 sized gun every now and then. Money well spent.

What's the deal with the p30sk mags – are they different from the p2000sk or just different floorplates or…?

That little p30 makes my heart throb. If they would just make a VP9sk I'd buy one instantly.

I was actually curious about 30sk floorplates. I am in a minority here but I find significant functionality in the extended 2000sk floorplates.

Same here! I hope I can hold out...

I was in Virginia Arms last week and looked at the P30 SK V1. Very nice little pistol, and certainly priced competitively. I know that it's wishful thinking, but will this lower the price point on the standard P30?

I Google searched the p30sk and saw a Vp9 next to a vp9sk (?) Had shorter slide and frame with the same trigger so I assume it is a striker fired.

My phone will not attach the photo.

ETA: looks like it might be a photo shop.

I picked one up yesterday, P30SK V1 9mm. Shot it this morning, only 50-rounds but it shoots like it is supposed to shoot. Really like it and it is different enough from my P2000SK V4 to justify the purchase (so I keep telling myself). This is my second gun in just over two weeks so I'm done for awhile.

Blehhhh, if I didn't already buy a gun, the P30sk would be a tempting piece...or maybe I'll just wait to the VP9sk...

Curious what your thoughts are on the differences and similarities between the 2. I have a P2KSK V3 in consignment and keep going back and forth if I want that in LEM, or go with the P30SK LEM.

Given my short initial range outing, the V1 trigger in the P30SK is better than those on the three P30 V1's that I have. Easily managed and ergos are the same, just in a smaller package with a slight pinky dangling. You'd me money ahead getting the P30SK IMO. I own both the P2KSK and the P30SK now and both are different enough to justify keeping both. The P30SK IS smaller in grip height. P30 mags work without issue, I ran two full 15-round mags through it this morning.

Took me forever to find anyone talking about P30 to sk mag compatibility.

If the P30 mags will run in it, I think I'm out another $600. :)

FWIW, when I was handling the example at VA Arms, one of the salesmen inserted a standard 15 round P 30 mag into the SK when I posed that very question. It locked into place, and the slide stayed to the rear when retracted. Standard mags should work just fine, and I'd be shocked if they did not.

The biggest problem for me, with the P30SK, is that it immediately fit my JRC AIWB perfectly and I'm not in a position to buy another gun right now [emoji35]

I solved my lusting issues for a P30SK... I dumped my money into a bunch of Henry rifles :D

The P30SK will accept P30 15 round magazines. I have right at 500 rounds through the gun now and the majority of those rounds have been fed via P30/VP9 magazines. As for the P30SK magazines, the only thing that differentiates them from the P2000SK magazines is the floor plate. If you put a P30/P30SK floor plate on the P2000SK magazine you have the same magazine. Hope this helps.

I use these all the time in my P2ksk with the x grip spacer. Never had an issue with any combination of longer mags in shorter magwells. Lately, I've been carrying the p2kSK with a full size p2k/USPc mag.

All 9/40 mags produced for HK pistols released since the USPc have the same dimensions in every respect but height (capacity).

Sorry, onions.

I thought that was the case, as I knew of the interchangeability with the 2000 series. I just wanted some confirmation from folks whom can generally be relied upon for good info that they carried this on with the P30sk as well.

It could be worse; the fact that the P30sk is so competitively priced is pretty appealing in and of itself.

All this talk about magazines must have jinxed me and my P30SK. I went to the range today with no particular drills in mind, thought I'd consult my "files" when I arrived. Perhaps that's what started it. "It" was a failure of the slide to lock back on empty. My first 2 or 3 magazines (warm up) were fine, then it began and never stopped. I had 3 different brands of ammo - some fmj, some hollow point, some 124 grain, some 147 grain. 250 rounds total, all quality ammo. Every round fed and ejected properly. I returned home, disassembled the pistol and cleaned it. I've never taken the slide apart with an H&K, so I didn't check the ejector "internally." The magazines are OEM, about 2 years old and the gun has less than 1,000 rounds through it. Whaddya say, guys?

The only HK where I have had failure to lock back, was a USP with White Jet Funnel Mags. If it is not your thumb hitting the slide release, you may need new mag springs.

Call HK if you think it’s the magazines and they will take care of you.

BINGO! Right after I posted my sorry tale, I began dry firing. My first mistake was using the same grip on the P30SK as I used on my previous guns, all of which were thicker and kept my thumbs away from the slide release. My second mistake was not shooting enough! I'll have to use a different grip with the H&K - dry firing results are promising. Thanks for the insight - yet another example of pf experience in action!

I roll my strong hand thumb over to the right (I am a lefty). Here is a pic of Kyle Defoor’s grip on a Sig 226:
