View Full Version : This might be old, but then again, how often do you see bald eagles swim?

Yes, I know it's from 2011, but first time I've ever seen it....

That bad boy worked for that meal.

There actually has been a nesting pair on the Old Roebling steel mill by my house for several years now. You have to get out on the river to catch a glimpse.

I've seen a ton of eagles living in the west, but I have never seen one do that. Pretty amazing. Of course when you survive meal to meal, great lengths will be taken.

I believe bald eagles are male.

The sexes are both "bald", but the females are typically larger, oddly enough.

Yes. I stand corrected. In my mind I feel like I was once told the bald/white was a male. There I go again spreading rumors on the Internet [emoji16]

Here's another clip of an eagle doing the exact same thing. Maybe it's not that uncommon? I had no idea some big cats liked to swim, until I saw a tiger idly bathing in a zoo once.

I believe tigers are the only big cats that like water.

Where I used to live in Ohio we were close to the Sandusky Bay and we often had Bald Eagles nesting in the area. We saw them close to our home on many occasions. Their size is striking at somewhat close distance.

In addition to tigers, jaguars quite like water.
