10mm Liberty 60 gr Fragmenting Monolithic Copper Hollow Point fired from 4.5" EAA Witness into calibrated 10% gelatin.

BB: 585.3 fps, 3.3"

Impact velocity: 2,323 fps
Penetration: greater than 7.5"
Retained weight: N/A
Max expansion: N/A
Min expansion: N/A

The shot curved sharply upward and left the block at about the 7.5" mark. Based on the size of the track and the impact velocity, I doubt it would have continued much farther had it stayed in the block. When I first watched the video while editing, it looked like you could see the bullet leave the block and hit the water jug but I think that was just a chunk of gelatin.

I have one round left so I may test this against body armor later. The velocity seems to indicate it has the potential to penetrate it.

I forgot to place denim but at that velocity, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I've seen testing on the 9mm version that does indeed get through kevlar

IMHO Liberty is doing no one any favors with this ammo.

What distinguishes this ammo from any other hyper-velocity gimmick like the MagSafe rounds that were so popular 20 years ago? So it makes it through a vest. Too bad it has very little wounding capability once it is through the Kevlar. Personally, I'll take any number of good performing JHP ammunition into a fight against an armored opponent and target the exposed portions of the body (face, lower torso, etc.) rather than trust my life to these designer rounds.

Finally, I'm going on a hunger strike until a major manufacturer creates 200+/- grain 10mm bullet that is pushed to 1100 +/- fps, expands to at least .70" while retaining its jacket, and penetrates 16-20" after passing through soft barriers. There are a number of us out there who want the 10mm's extra case length to drive a heavier 40 caliber bullet to depths a bit beyond the 40 S&W while retaining expansion seen with modern 40SW ammo.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic ammo. The 10 mm will be that 40 caliber round. Better than it was before. Better... stronger... faster. Da...da...da...da...da.

Sounds close to Norma's original. Great plan. Except for the starvation part but . . .

There is sooooo much specialized stuff to be done with the right constructed .40 bullet at 1000-1100 fps.

While I'd much rather carry the Federal TBJSP over this Liberty load (heck, I'd take a good .380 over the Liberty), the Federal has been a bit of a disappointment. Doc's tests here showed the round significantly under expanding compared to most good 40SW loads while offering just 3-4 inches more penetration:

3" more penetration with the same expansion is pretty good, I think.
