Duluth Firehose and Firehose Flex, their Ballroom jeans have really large deep front pockets as well.

Are they cool enough for summer wear? I have found ripstop to be ideal for summer wear.

I tend to carry my S&W Airweight in an Uncle Mike or a DeSantis pocket holster. If carrying the Beretta Mdl 21 I go strictly with the DeSantis. Regarding the pants, I use whatever I would wear ordinarily, which tends to be somewhat loose anyway. If there are problems I just run down to the tailor and have the pockets modified as needed, either deepened, shortened, or secured.

The Duluth shorts have an inner pocket inside the right front pocket that's a perfect fit for the muzzle and trigger guard of a Bodyguard 380. You couldn't have designed a better low-profile pocket holster; it even has decent retention, so it won't fall out when you put your feet up.

Between that and the safety, I'm happy carrying there.

I'm a relatively slim guy (31" waist and athletic), so I've found that most pocket holsters (having tried the Remora, custom kydex, and a few others) are a waste of time; they turn a mouse gun into a Glock 26 in terms of pocket space, and so in my experience make both printing and handling worse, or require me to wear stiff Hammer pants to avoid printing.

I either use a belt holster, or I pocket carry a gun with a long double action and a thumb safety, typically in a jacket pocket.

But then, I'm not the kind of guy who wears a tucked shirt and no jacket with pants that will fit a gun, so it's rare that pocket carry is my best choice.

The Firehose Flex material is lightweight and cool. There's also a Firehose Cool-dry material that's really nice in the summer.

I don't know what pants he wears, but I've seen a handful of articles in American Handgunner by Clint Smith about alternate/pocket carry, and he carries S&W N-Frames in his pockets. He has pocket holster for those guns from Rosen and 5 Shot Leather, I believe.

Ditto on Duluth. I wear their pants and shorts almost exclusively.

I almost exclusively pocket carry at work, so Dockers. Both the regular and slim fit work fine. I actually prefer the slim fit; they look better and I feel like my draw is a little less obstructed in them.

Same gun, but with poor-man's nylon holster. I actually don't have any complaints about it thus far.

Ditto, minus the Apex kit. With certain pants with a more tapered pocket an Uncle Mikes pocket holster works better. The Kramer always does a better job of breaking up the outline in tighter pants though.

I'm experimenting with a Glock 42 with a JM custom Kydex pocket holster. I've found that a square pocket bottom is pretty much a requirement with this setup though.

I RARELY pocket carry. In fact, besides jacket pocket carry when it's too cold out to keep normal covering garments unzipped, I probably only pocket carry a dozen times/year. On those rare instances, it's when I'm in shorts/swim trunks and t-shirt, and no where to put a BUG besides the pocket. My favorite shorts for these are the older Columbia "cargo" style shorts - the front pockets of which are VERY deep and roomy. Generally, if I'm pocket carrying in shorts, it's a no-lock 642 with Apex trigger, or my PM9 either contained in Mika pocket holster(s).

Regards,

Kevin

I carry 2 handguns ! Primary and BUG.

A stock 2012 S&W M642 with DREADED INTERAL LOCK ( BTW I never lock it and has been 100%)

Pocket Holster - Desantis Nemesis . I order for size to fit Colt DS on purpose because I think its a little bigger.

Shorts = Wrangle cargo Nemesis/M642 fits in my left front pocket perfectly. I carry Pistol IWB at 3:00

Ammo 148 WC and speed strip /HKS using Win 130gr bonded +P

Does anyone think lasers on a j frame are worthwhile?

I run a Glock 26 in a 5 Shot Leather Pocket Holster with Arborwear Tree Climber Pants. It's a brick and I pocket carry a reload on the other side to balance it all out.

Got a 42. I am waiting for holsters on for when shorts might be necessary but me and shorts are a rare event.

I used to buy the cheap wrangler cargo shorts from Walmart for the above setup in the summer. They work pretty well but I wear cargo shorts everyday during the summer. After 3 or 4 months of wear they are usually worn out and get thrown away.

A friend told me about American Eagle brand shorts. I had never been in American eagle before in my life. They have some great cargo shirts though and they aren't much more than Walmart wrangler shorts. I had to look around to find some with deep enough pockets but they do have them.

I found one pair that is a dark brown ripstop material. These are my favorite shorts. They have been extremely durable so far, are light and cool in the hottest temps, and look just hipster enough to not look tactical. I plan on picking up as many as possible when they come back in stock.

I wear cargo shorts, not brand picky. I use a DeSantis pocket holster or a "Guardian” Kydex Trigger Guard if the holster is to big for the pocket.

I use a S&W 642 in the tuff products holster in the cargo pocket of my Duluth pants. Not quite enamel red with the laser at this point, but it has one. I have actually been so good about carrying a second gun most of the time that I will be switching to a S&W M&P 340 pretty soon.

I find the dockers cargo shorts, khakis and casual slacks work well for pocket carry -- very deep pockets. I'd definitely like to try some of the other pants listed here.
I really like the 340pd (carrying 38s), and the uncle mikes No 3 holster with some kleenex box cardboard in front.
Here's a company that looks like they've got some no-lock 340pds in.

I live in Arizona but I rarely wear shorts. It's hard to tell where my socks end and my legs start. If I do they're Levi's.

Alan Miller at aholster.com makes very nice kydex pocket holsters for the j. He has right and left styles. I wrap coflex around the bottom of the holster to keep it even more secure in the pocket of my 511 pants.....Revolver Round up YEAH

Carhartt shorts are pretty good for pocket carry. A j and speed loader carry well in the R front pocket, with a speed strip in the watch pocket. I dont have a holster, the speed loader seems to help keep the gun positioned properly in average daily carry, even doing construction work. The front sight wears through the pocket material after a couple months, I stitch it up. Been wanting to have some pockets redone with canvas to help reduce wearing through.

I haven't bought one yet and have carried a jframe for a long time.

I never had a problem shooting a J frame accurately.

I still remember the first day I shot my new M37 my mom bought me for my birthday.

I was told they were hard to shoot accurately by others all the time.
My 5rd group at 7y were touching!

I will say it couldn't hurt. I would have to have the larger grip because I refuse to use boot grips on a AW J frame. plus shooting it with my left hand.

I rather have the laser on my primary than back up . or both LOL I'm way to poor for that.

Other than the sights I rather have the heavier 15oz AW M642

I carry a second as well in left front pocket of cargo shorts. I hope I don't have to use it because I suck shooting with only my left hand.

Go for the Flex or Cool-Dry. The regular Firehouse shorts are nice, but heavy. They're winter shorts here in New Mexico.

It's to late to edit my previous post. The ripstop shorts I have are from Aeropostle not American Eagle. All the hipster stores look alike to a guy my age I guess.

Carried a 642-2 in a Galco horsehide pocket almost daily for more than ten years. Still will occasionally, but since getting a P32, and my first 3913, it's hard to put that fat thing in my pocket or carry it as primary. I carry it on my ankle now, and the P32 in a cheap nylon thing in my pocket or in a SmartCarry. I'm committed enough to the little .32 that I'm going to make a nice leather pocket bolster for it. It's only primary when I'm in slacks with a tucked in shirt, no jacket, and not at work - at work I pocket carry a pen and a Surefire. Otherwise, it's strictly a backup to whichever 3913 is on or in my belt. Rarely, I carry the P32 in tandem with the 642.

I thought I was the only person who pocket carries a 26. I've been doing it for Seven years now. The only kind of pants/shorts I can't carry her in is jeans. Some cargo shorts' pockets are too big though because they allow the gun to swing out and come back and bang the leg with each step.
