My first shotgun was a M37 12GA that my grandfather passed down.
Funny thing my first J frame was a M37 also!

what are the chances of finding a 18 inch barrel for a 12 GA that was made in the 30`s

Years ago I called up Ithaca and asked about a spare barrel.
They said there newer M37 is made different and there barrels wont fit.

Since the move to SWF I no longer hunt. And wouldn't mind have a 18inch barrel for HD

I'd think about looking at places like Numerich Gun Parts Corp. and see if they have a barrel, then have a gunsmith cut it down.

^^^That.

Any reasonably-sized gun show will probably turn one up, too. If it's rusty and jugged you can beat 'em down on the price and then just have it cut down and cerakoted.

Rich... not sure if you can't get to their site or whatnot, but here's their URL and their 'Contact Us' page:

ETA: The only email address I can find for 'em on the site is orderinfo@gunpartscorp.com.
