If you wrote that scene into a novel, people would denounce it as ham-handed and unrealistic.

I am deliberately being vague about the description of these cowards and where it all happened. To me, it doesn’t matter where they come from, what colour their skin is, what their religion or their political ideas are. In this context, all they represent is stupidity and ignorance.

It may not matter to him, but I bet it matters to the people who beat the piss out of him, and to the police trying to find them.

Pretty sure those suspects will be feeling really bad about this when they realize his level of disappointment in them.

Like the T-shirt says: you can't coexist with people who are trying to kill you.

Which leads to a question. What is it about Islamic radicalism that makes it politically incorrect to mention that it exists or is a growing problem, even after the murders in Paris, Sydney, Brussels etc. etc., or the burning alive of the Jordanian pilot? It doesn't mean that all Moslems are guilty--the Jordanian pilot himself was an observant Sunni Moslem--it simply acknowledges that there is a strain of Islamic radicalism that encourages its members to engage in truly heinous crimes.

But so long as so many of our politicians and others insist on tip-toeing around the truth we are never going to be able to confront the reality of what we are facing.

Because when you point at it, you risk winding up with a fatwa on your head..... and of course that's scary (/snark).... and the folks that are refusing to mention it are frequently Coexistniks, not known for taking on physical risks, however remote. Bascially, with a few acts of violence, the radicals have managed to scare the right folks in the right places.

There is probably some truth to that, but I'm not sure it's the main reason. I think some people (including the White House) don't want to call radical Islamic terrorism for what it is because that would be inconsistent with the worldview they keep trying to prop up. Plus it would mean the President would have to actually pay attention and pour time, energy, and resources into coming up with a coherent plan and actually doing something, when he would much rather ignore it and focus strictly on domestic issues.

It is the main reason. Everyone understands the true nature of Islam.
