I'm not a revolver guy, other than having a few J-frames that I purchased either brand new or used from co-workers who bought them brand new and decided to sell them after not being able to qualify with them.

I have the opportunity to purchase either a 66-3 or 66-4 2.5 inch at a LGS, and I want to know what I should look out for on these revolvers.

If this stuff has been posted before, I apologize. My search-fu is weak this morning.

Thanks,

Part way down it lists the revo procedure.

There's some good Smith specific info here:

It hurts me to say this, but that Chuckhawks page is pretty good for used revo recommendations.

That being said, most used guns have been shot so sparingly that they're basically brand new.

Where is it, Ronnie? If not too far away, I can go check it out for you.

I believe the original "used revolver checkout guide" is this one: THE REVOLVER CHECKOUT - 10 year anniversary update. - The Firing Line Forums (http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=57816), also available as a downloadable .pdf.
