View Full Version : Someone You Should Know: US Army Sergeant Jacob Perkins
SGT Perkins was on leave and ran into and through a burning bus; hitting every seat to insure everyone got out. Like an NCO.
Captain America stuff right there.

NCO Corps truly is the backbone of the Army.
He deserves a Soldier's Medal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier%27s_Medal) for this.

It's a honor to hear of you Sgt. Perkins.
Holy smokes. It doesn't end at the rescue. Then he drove the family of a seriously injured man (Canadians) around to several hospitals until they found where their father had been transported. He would not leave their side; these strangers.

Outstanding.
This reminds me of The Mission Continues (http://www.missioncontinues.org/). It's an NGO started by an ex-SEAL that helps wounded vets return to civilian life by helping them find ways to continue to serve - if not serving their country overseas, they can serve their communities here at home. The common thread of service - of finding your own worth by putting others before yourself - is something we can all apply day to day.

Great story! Thanks for sharing. I'll be up in Syracuse next month and would gladly pick up this guy's bar tab.
