Hi all,

I'm seeking advice because I know absolutely nothing about shotguns. Firstly, I want to say I know there are much cheaper options out there but I kind of have my heart set on one of these two options.

My plans are home defense, with some plinking here and there. I understand the Vinci has a lot fewer options for customization, but I believe all I want are a pistol grip and an extended magazine tube. Both of which are available on either gun. A picatinny rail also is on both.

Is there a good reason why the M4 is worth the extra $600 or so for someone in my shoes? I don't mind spending the extra money if there is a good reason to do so.

What do you think?

Really appreciate your input. Thank you!

Get a cheap used Rem 870P, take a class from a good instructor like Rob Haught, Steve Fisher, Darryl Bolke, Scott Reitz, etc... so that you know exactly what is needed and desired in a defensive shotgun.

I have not seen many shotgun classes this year. However one is coming up:

I would pick an 870, or if you want a semi-auto, a Benelli M2 or Beretta 1301.

I have an M4, SLP and 870P. I shoot the 870P more than the other two combined. I shot the M4 with Louis Awerbuck for 2 days, and the 870 with Rob Haught for 2 days. The training makes more of a difference than the platform.
