I went to my local WalMart to look for cheapish 5.56 range fodder and while making my way to sporting goods I heard a PA announcement telling customers that R. Lee Ermey was signing autographs in sporting goods. WTF? Did I hear what I think I heard? Sure enough, there was the Gunny. I got an autograph and a picture opportunity. He seemed to be a very kind person.

He has been a fixture at the Conyers, GA GSSF match for a few years and he is just a terrific guy. That's great you got to meet him.

I'm still grinning! I went home and immediately watched FMJ. I'm totally star struck, lol.

Today... is Christmas! There will be a magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few Marines!

I "met" R. Lee in Quantico in 05 during a book signing.
Was not impressed.

Much like in "Full Metal Jacket," he has some awesome lines.

I'm envious. Gunny is one of the very few in Hollywood (though he would probably kick my ass for associating him with that crowd) that I would go out of my way to stroke their ego and ask for an autograph and or photo.

Not a bad dude... But, didn't he endorse the .45GAP?

Yes, currently Wally World is the only place I can find reasonable prices on 5.56, locally. Now I just need time to go burn it. I'm really thinking about trying out 3gun. I've been meaning to call you about that.

I chatted with him at SHOT a few years ago. I told him that I enjoyed his role in "Saving Silverman" and that he ought to do more comedies. He was doing "Mail Call" on The History Channel at that time and he replied that he tried to interject some humor in that show. He told me that The History Channel gave him a little grief over that when developing the series and told him "Mr. Ermey, this is the The History Channel, not Comedy Central". He told me he replied "If you want it all dry and serious, then get G-- D----- Ollie North to host it".

Funny guy. Not a broad acting range, but if the part is written for him, he brings it off.

BTW - Just recently "The Siege of Firebase Gloria" finally became available on DVD. Mine's inbound from Amazon as this is written.

I should just set up a kiosk outside of a Wal-Mart with a sign that says "Meeting Caleb Giddings, he's on the internet!"

I thought it said Caleb also. Actually disappointed.
