My VP9 is en route, so I'm seeking a holster. I've been checking the Bladetech, Comp-Tac, Raven Concealment Systems and Dale Fricke websites periodically to see if they're offering VP9 models - so far no joy. I plan to see if my RCS Phantom Phantom for the Walther PPQ M1 will serve for range use until VP9 holsters become available.

In any case, I thought I'd start a thread on VP9 holster availability (or compatibility). Caleb already started a list of VP9 compatible holsters (http://www.gunnuts.net/2014/06/16/hk-vp9-holsters/) on Gun Nuts. What else is out there?

Per-Sec Systems has a VP9 on hand now, as per their Facebook last night.

Supposedly there are inert guns a week or two away so I could but I would still prefer to have a blue gun/live gun comparison so I know how it fits.

My JM FNS .40 AIWB holster is an excellent fit. Fricke Gideon for a G20/21 will do, if not win an award for fit. ALAs for the P30 doesn't work.

I have two holsters ordered from Tony at JM Custom Kydex for the VP9.

Just checked your website and noticed the VP9 is now an option. Let the flood of orders begin, now that mine has been submitted. ;)

From a compatibility standpoint, my VP9 fits into the RCS Phantom for the Walther PPQ M1. It is a very tight fit, but it (barely) fits.

Would anyone be so kind as to measure the distance from the front of the trigger guard to the end of the front rail and/or compare that to the P30? I'd like to know if it will fit in my SME or if I should find another holster.

I have a SME for a P30, I will check fit this evening.

the front end of the rail/dust cover on the P30 is sloped back towards the trigger guard. So while the VP9 is ~2.25" from front of trigger guard to end of rail, the P30 is ~2.0". As such, I think a P30 would fit into a VP9 holster, but not vice versa.
Nothing a Dremel, a file and a little fine sandpaper couldn't fix.
The VP9 could look just like the P30 ricky-ticky.

Both Fricke and JM Glock 37 holsters work.

No, it doesn't fit well.

The length from the front of the trigger guard to the muzzle on the P30 and VP9 are practically identical at ~2.25", the front end of the rail/dust cover on the P30 is sloped back towards the trigger guard. It'd be awesome if a custom shop offered a professional version of that. Buying holsters is starting to physically pain me. I think I could make a saddle right now.

Comp-Tac should have VP9 holsters up sooner than later; the owner bought one for holster molding purposes like two-ish weeks ago from my preferred LGS/range.

I modified two Blade-Tech holsters for a customer this weekend. It seems to require heat and "re-molding" only around the trigger guard.

What model did you start with? I tried my P30, P30L and as was suggested a 229R bladetech(s) and none look like they would work or could be modified to work...

I used Blade-Tech P30 holsters.

I made two today for customers using HK45C holsters.

Just observe visually where it needs to be Remolded (usually the trigger guard.

Using a heat gun reheat the holster until it "sweats" a little in the area it needs to be molded.

Remove any hardware if it's located closely to the area that needs heating and molding.

Insert pistol and mold by hand or with rounded blunt tools to provide the necessary tension in and around the trigger guard.

I use a spray bottle of water to spray the area to cool it. Though sometimes I use the faucet to run warm water over the trigger guard area.

You may need to still apply finger or tool pressure to maintain the new shape.

Once it's cool and hardened - 5 minutes - insert pistol and inspect for wiggles or tightness.

Repeat as necessary.

I'm good with my hands so it's "easy" for me. Just don't burn through the kydex.

Saw this over on M4C. This company has VP9 holsters ready to ship. There's a pic of the holster on page 58 of the "HK Striker Fired" thread. No affiliation to the maker on my end...just passing this on.

Any thoughts specifically on an OWB competition holster for USPSA Production (once approved, wonder how long that'll take) and 3 Gun? Something available quickly to at least get me by, and preferably compatible with Tek-Lok or QLS...I'm finally giving into the whole competition double belt thing.

Leaning towards the Safariland 5197 for P30 right now from Caleb's list, it's cheap enough to at least give it a try.

BTW, Comp-Tac belt holsters for the P30L and USP do NOT work with the VP9.

VP9 fits perfectly in a JMCK AIWB for P30L and JRC AIWB-CDA II for P30.

Also, the charging supports are not comfy AIWB.

I just received an email back from Tony saying that the P30 will fit a VP9 AIWB. He is making me a VP9 AIWB for my P30 and I will be buying a VP9 sometime in the future.

I turned to a local custom kydex shop to answer my immediate requirement for a VP9 holster. Great work by the crew at Blackbeard Tactical (http://blackbeardtactical.com), who crafted this holster to my specfications in record time. It will get plenty of use at a course next week.

I ordered two yesterday: one with WML and one minus WML. I'll report back when they arrive. RCS now lists a 4-6 week lead time for custom orders.

Did a search to find this thread.

This question is for a JM CK order for a LEFTY IWB holster for the VP9. I'd like to get input from those with more experience than I on the different options for IWB.

Background:

I am currently carrying my Walther PPS M2 (6+1) in a one clip JM CK IWB left side at 8:30 with an Ares Aegis 1 1/2" belt. I am thinking of moving to carrying my HK VP9 game gun because:reasons (well, mostly 15+1; plus, the VP9 seems to weigh out as much as the Walther, oddly enough.)

I need to be able to walk the dog, eat out, drive the truck, etc. pretty much all day. I usually wear cargo shorts and an untucked T Shirt or Hawaiian shirt. I'm in Florida, so its hot out, most always.

I'm a little unsure of the IWB holster versions available at Tony's site. Rather than bug him (again!) via email, I thought I would ask folks here who might be using one of them their thoughts.

What I think I would like is:

- A LEFT hand IWB black normal-thickness kydex holster
- I'd like to be able to put it on/off over the belt without any unnatural acts, AS LONG AS it is secure.
- I'd prefer a wider spread of loops, a wide as possible
- I don't carry a mounted light
- I 'think' a 10 degree cant should work
- I have a bit of fat around the middle so am thinking the mid-size guard would be best.

From the web site, seems like either a Version 2 or a Version 4 would fit the bill?

For those who have them, which would you pick?

Thanks, appreciate any input here.

Rich, its never a bother to email me. I have worn both the 2 and 4 and can give you my impressions from a design standpoint and a wearers standpoint. The 2 does a great job of tucking the grip into the body with the trailing wing, the soft loops are set wide enough to handle the weight of full size pistols, and you have cant adjustment. It's made from .093 kydex only, so it's tough. I like it more than the 4 because it doesn't feel as wide or rigid and for strongside IWB carry, I don't like any material in front of the sight channel unless it's leather (The Hybrid). The 4 is uses J-hooks (have switched to Raven J hooks) but can be had with struts and soft loops if you want. We make them as narrow as possible, but they are a wider as I have to have room to attach the J hook. We do ask your waist size as if it isn't bent to you somewhat it feel like your carrying a sheet of plywood in your pants. I don't suggest this design for those with small waists. It is somewhat tuckable, although the J hooks still show. It does a good job of spreading the weight of larger pistols, conceals well. The Raven J hooks are great, and do offer some ride height change and/or cant change. It can be made in either .080 or .093.

My pick is the 2, for me it rides better, conceals better and I am big fan of soft loops. YMMV .

Hope that helps.

Thanks
