I was able to pick up some of the 62 grain trophy bonded bear claws. They are pulls. Has anyone chronoed any of the federal tactical bonded le223t3? If so what was the barrel length, and how far away was the chrono? What type of accuracy were you getting?
Im going to use the load data for the nosler 64 bonded solid base. They are virtually the same size and construction. The accuracy is best in the 2800-2900 fps ranges for the 64bsb. Im hoping to get a little more speed out of the 62tbbc while keeping groups under 2 inches at 100.
Does anyone know the expansion threshold of the 62 tbbc? If anyone has loaded any of these what was your experience with them like?
If anybody has any info they feel is relevant please share.

That's a very well constructed bullet for the 5.56/.223. Are there any more available from the pull down source??

The 62 gr TBBC is indeed one of the best barrier blind bullets made for .223/5.56 mm; accuracy is acceptable for the tasks it is required to perform, however, it is NOT a match bullet.
From a 16" Colt 6920 barrel, the MV of factory Federal .223 LE223T3 is around 2690 fps; accuracy is in the 2-3 MOA range when tested with 10 shot groups at 100 yds. The bullet keeps expanding down to at least 2200 fps or so.

When fired from a 20" Colt M16A2 barrel, typical lots of Federal LE223T3 have an average muzzle velocity of 2970 FPS. When fired from the same barrel, the 5.56mm FBI loading of the 62 grain TBBC (XM556FBIT3) has an average muzzle velocity of 3120 FPS. The accuracy of both loads is shown in the table below.

Molon Thanks for all the info. The expansion threshold is a little high. I was hoping for it to be closer to the 64bsb. Imddefinitely not expecting match grade performance. The 64 bsb is around 1.5-2 moa at 100 with cfe 223. I always enjoyed reading your posts and have learned alot from them.
Thanks doc I appreciate all the info. The 64 bsb expansion threshold is 1600 IIRC. Is the tbbc that much tougher than the bsb? I know they are both some of the highest regarded barrier blind bullets.
Wayne dobbs there is a guy on m4carbine.net selling these and 62 fusion pulls. He had 1500 tbbc's and I bought 1000 of them. They were 80 per 500 and the fusion were 130 per k. In the ammunition part of the ee you should see them on tbe first page. Members name is stump70.
I picked them up because they are almost never available. There were about 5% that had excessive pull marks, but for what I bought them for I only need them to hold roughly 3 inch groups at 100. The rest of them were In great shape. Lots of sealant on them.
From the info molon has in his last post. I think im going to push for 3000fps and 3 inch groups. I was going to use cfe223 but I may try varget or 8208xbr. My loads with thos3 powders have always been a little more accurate than ball powders.

I could not pass it up. I have before and always when I decide to pick them up there gone. These had a lot of sealant on them which made them look rough. I used some brass cleaning solution I have and it got most of the sealant off and they look great.
If you want some I would jump on them he has not updated the post saying there out, but according to his number he should only have 500 left.
