I no longer see it on the Beretta USA website. Anyone know if it's discontinued?

Interesting. It's been taken off the Beretta USA sight, though.

Look under "90 series," and not under "92."

Maybe the site is in flux, but that link is not found going through Firearms > Pistols > Full Size. And look at the section where it's located:

Maybe they're just making changes, but the 92A1 is not on the page with the other pistols.

It's also not under "90 Series".

What I did was go to Beretta USA and type "92A1" into the search box. Just did it again now, and it found the 92 A1.

Right - it comes up with a search. My point is simply that is used to be listed on the page of pistols when navigating to it rather than doing a search. It is just not listed with the other pistols, now. It just made me wonder if it's being discontinued. I would be very surprised to see that model discontinued, though.

Beretta has other handgun models? .....huh, who knew.

I hope not I just got a new 92A1. I really hate that I love the 90 series pistols. The gun just feels right. (I guess 17 years shooting a M9 does something to you)

Beretta has recently changed their site, and it kind of seems to be in a state of flux, so I kind of doubt it's been dropped.

OTOH, it wouldn't surprise me, and would be just my luck, since the 92A1 is my favorite of the current Beretta lineup, and Wilson just introduced sights for it.....

But nothing good...

Maybe they're replacing it with a 92A1-G Compact with factory flared mag well and checkered front and back straps? Or am I just being greedy?

Sooooo, the suspense was killing me, and I called Beretta. Customer Service said the 92A1 is not being discontinued. Just said the website is being updated, and it may be kind of "misplaced" currently.

Not a chance. Replacing it with a 92A1-G Centurion with flared mag well, checkering, D spring, extended magazine release, and a choice of HD or FO sights.

That'll happen about the time Feinswine starts advocating the repeal of the NFA.

I bet you a million dollars the Elite 3 will be based in the Storm.

Gut instinct. The focus has been on the Storm line for a while, and I know Beretta wants to have an Elite 3.

From a dispassionate, business related viewpoint, an Elite 3 Constant Action PX4 devoid of a manual safety with a longer barrel and competition-optimized sights would be a market contender vs the G34/ M&P Pro/ FNS Longslide. Its not a 92 variant, but Beretta is a gun business - which means they must build what appeals to the masses, a category most of us here ceased being a part of long ago.

That is a really risky bet. I would take that one back if I were you :)

Lets just say that Beretta is really interested in bringing the M9/92 back. So...... I would bet you see some cool versions of the Beretta 92 showing back up on the shelf. I would say Beretta lovers are going to be really happy and non Beretta lovers may just change their mind. :)

Thank you for telling me that in time to save up some cash, I'm very intrigued now!

Beretta Customer Service: "Hello, how may I assist you?"
Me: "Mr. Ernest Langdon said..."

All joking aside, that's great news and I'm excited to see some new 90 series goodies. Maybe some will be made here in Tennessee at their new factory!

That would be great, and I would probably acquire on of every cool model they come out with, and maybe 2 if they make an awesome Elite 3. I loves me some 92. Like sell organs to fund the purchase of more 92's love.

Bring back the Vertec and offer the G version across their entire 92 line. I'd be happy with that. I almost got my hands on a 92D INOX Vertec like my agency uses but that fell through.

I also know Beretta distributed all kinds of non catalogued 92s. They must have been clearing out their spare parts bins a few years back. The one I saw I really liked and was prepared to buy 2 of was a standard 92 series frame in Bruniton with a G Vertec slide in Bruniton and a stainless EII barrel. The only reason I didn't get it was because it was only available as a 96 instead of a 92. That was a let down.

I would absolutely love if the 92G-SD was remade, but with a dovetailed front.

I am confused here -- both my 92G-SD pistols have a dovetailed front sight?

My bad, a quick google search indicates you are in fact correct. I could have sworn the one I played with had an integrated front sight.

Well then, just start making the 92G-SD then. :D

Nothing would make me happier than to lose that bet! I was extremely happy at SHOT to see the 92 Compact was back, and in our meetings with Beretta's marketing team, they talked about wanting to bring the Elite back. I just didn't want to get my hopes up that Elite = 92G.

I seem to recall there was a short lived Elite 3 based on the 92 already? My admittedly weak Google-fu surfaced this image and configuration description, but very little else. Perhaps some of the former Beretta insiders recall? Sounds like a neat model, with the SD frame.

Cool. I wonder if Beretta will call the next elite the 3 or the 4.

I was treated to an afternoon of shooting Berettas a couple of weeks ago. I posted a video and some pictures in this thread (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?11740-The-Italians). As you can see, the tags were still on all of the product; so, it should give you a decent idea of what is being sent out to the reps and dealers.
