Awhile ago I got the notion to build a new SBR to fit between my 10.3" MK18 and my .308 AR. I decided that 12.5" seemed like a sweet spot and I had also been wanting to try out one of the new Geissele SMR rails. Through the thought/planning process a buddy and I were discussing an AAC SPR-M4 can he has, but doesn't currently use and what he might be willing to sell it for. That further solidified the 12.5" barrel and 9.5" rail choice, as, basically the setup would look similar to my MK18, but have its own vibe as well. I struggled a bit on barrel choice considering a Noveske Crusader barrel against a DD CHF barrel. In the end, I decided that barrel life was more important than a fraction of an MOA of accuracy, especially given this rifle's intended role, so I went with the DD barrel.
-M4 Upper
-DD CHF 12.5" barrel
-DD BCG
-BCM mod4 Gunfighter Charging Handle
-Geissele SMR Mk4 9.5" rail, Sand
-87 Industries "Pinblock".

I tell you what, the 87 Industries block is slicker than owl crap! I own and have used the BRDE pinning jig on BCM gas blocks in the past, but the 87 design is much simpler and cleaner while being just as rugged. If you're working on a new build and need to source a gas block, I'd highly recommend checking out 87 Industries.

Here's a quick mockup pic I took the other night prior to receiving the gas block. Glass is a Nightforce 2.5-10x32/Docter 7MOA combo borrowed from my .308. The plan is to save up and buy a Nightforce 1-4 FC-2 for the 12.5.

I just finished putting together a BCM 12.5", AAC Ranger 2, Meopta K-dot 1-4x and Geissele SD-3gun flat face trigger to use as my short, quick handling coyote carbine.
Out to 300 yards it's wicked accurate and quick to get on target.

C'mon Jody, you know the rules.

Pictures or it didn't happen. ;)

I got home last night and did the final assembly. Man, this thing is sweet! Going to head to the range on lunch and see how she runs. It's only a 25yd indoor, so accuracy won't be much of a test...if all the rounds aren't through the same hole at that distance, something's wrong. It's sitting on my MK18 lower for now, which is a factory Form 4 Daniel Defense, Geissele SSA-E trigger, B5-Bravo stock, BCM Gunfighter grip, BFG VCAS sling.

I got to the indoor range yesterday over lunch and it runs perfectly. Also, for those interested, here's a video I made of the 87 Industries gas block installation:
