Week 91: G&R Tactical Drill #1
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Monday 10-March-2014.

Range: 10yd
Target: IDPA Target ("level 1") or NRA B8 (http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=281&d=1322428748) + IDPA head ("level 2")
Start position: holstered, hands a sides
Rounds fired: 15

All shooting is from the holster and done freestyle.

Load gun with four rounds; have spare magazine with at least one round.
On buzzer, draw and fire four rounds to body (IDPA 8in -0 zone "level 1" or black 10/9-rings of NRA B8 "level 2")
Reload, one round to 6x6 head box of IDPA target.
Repeat for a total of three runs, 15 rounds

Misses to the body (-0 zone "level 1" or black of NRA B8 "level 2") add two seconds to your time. Missing the head shot is an automatic fail.

Passing time is 8 seconds or less per 5-shot run.

If you cannot draw from a holster, remove one second from the PAR time and report your score from a ready position which has the muzzle off the target by at least three feet for the beginning of each string.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

"level 1" or "level 2" attempt
pistol and holster used
Hits and times for each run, pass or fail

all clean, and I shot it very conservatively

then, since this might be the last DOW, rather than go gamer on a fun run, in the spirit of who the drill is named for, I decided to jock up, channel my inner most operator, visualize that the drill was in the shoot house, and shoot it like I meant it.

clean 3.45 (1.03, .23, .24, . 22, 1.73)

6.27 clean pass

I re-shot it with a Gen 4 G-17, a Springfield P9-C compact and a Gen 3 G-17 with similar results except for the first run after I switched to the Glock. Can you say Glock trigger with hits to the left. ;)

All Clean.

I don't think I can do it much faster with my limited practice schedule. I tried to derail things ... but it turned out clean.

I don't really like this drill because it's easy to cheat the grip after the reload, since only one shot is required.

If it was 2 shots after the reload, it'd be a lot better - IMO, but then it'd be a FAST in rewind.

I tried to merge all of the results into the new "Drills of the Month" thread but because the dates were prior to the DotM post, they showed up before the drill descriptions. Sorry.

Sorry forgot to post my results.

I'll jump in before the lock.

I shot it in my duty gear and concealed carry stuff:

Duty: (Safariland 6350DO M&P CORE with DeltaPoint and X300)
6:02
6:21
5:38

Concealed: (RCS M&P IWB M&P CORE w/Delta Point and X300)
7:58
7:34
6:52

All clean, and as a given for me, I'm a lot faster without a concealment garment.

Also forgot to post results. Ran it in a hurry on my way to the airport on Monday. In the woods on uneven ground, stepped off 11yd just to be safe, and used the black of a b16 and a 3x5 since that's what I had on hand. Also just didn't take the time to put on the mag pouch, so did reloads from the pocket. (Not recommended...) Shot it as I was, with a puffy jacket over a pearl snap shirt over a G17 from a SME. I did about 50rd of other stuff first, so not cold.

10.04, 8.04raw, 1 body miss, 4.86s reload
7.53, clean, 3.22s reload
8.81, clean, 3.70s reload
