Hi, I just wanted to post up some of my recent work for customers(and a couple for myself) Most of my holsters are Horsehide and some have Shark trim. Everything is 100% hand made and sewn. I hope you like them.

Any AIWB specific models?

The third one up from the bottom, IWB-CDA is for appendix carry. It can come canted or with neutral rake. All my models are just base models. Everything is hand made and I customize a lot of holsters for individual needs. I am building a modified version of the P-1 right now for AIWB carry as per customer request.

Just let me know when your ready. All of my belts start out with Veg Tanned 8-9oz Hermann Oak leather. They then receive a second layer of Horsehide, laminated and sewn to give the double thickness. Hardware includes Chicago Screws and Solid Brass Buckles. I try to make a clean, elegant dress belt that doesn't scream "gunbelt"

Interesting. The cant seems pretty aggressive for AIWB.

Yes, it is. I typically use a reverse cant. This was to the customer specs, based on his needs. Typically, this particular model is for 4-5 o'clock carry. I rounded the front panel to make it contour more in the groin area. It seems most every model I offer get's modded based on customer needs.

Within reason ....

Sure. I have to take a lot of things into account when I am dealing with people, body shape, physical disabilities, etc. I carry in one of the most reviled ways people love to bash, cavalry behind the hip, neutral cant. Because of my physical limitations, due to some surgeries, it works for me as well as AIWB. There are always so many considerations to be taken into account.

A left handed SOB-5. It is designed to be worn at 5 o'clock. The holster is molded to pull the butt of the weapon into the body. This is for the Springfield Centurion. The dummy gun is just a bit longer, so it sticks out.

I normally don't make shoulder rigs, but I had a request from someone I couldn't bring myself to say no to.

I went with Horsehide as always and decided on a pull through, horizontal design. The magazine pouch sits horizontally and uses rubber bushings and chicago screws to adjust tension on the mags.
I used 5oz suede for a nice soft harness that drapes nicely and flows with body movement. The harness has about 8in of adjustment in the shoulders. I played around with a bunch of different adjustment straps and in the end went with flat 1in nylon webbing. This made for a nice low profile adjustment on the straps.

I am wearing it in the photos, so it is not really adjusted for me (damn I need to do some sit-ups). The fella I made it for is pretty buff, so I wanted to be sure it had plenty of adjustment for him.

JRCHolsters

Can you post any more details on the construction of those last two holsters? They're intriguing. Thanks.

Sure Erik. These are made from Horsehide to keep them stiff, yet thin. They have a full reinforced mouth, that extends to the end of the holster past the trigger guard. In this area past the guard(where you see the Chicago Screw) there is a wedge shaped piece of leather bonded in, giving you 5 thickness' of leather, that forms a wedge to push the butt of the gun closer the the body. There is also a removable pad as you can see in the pictures. This will push it further inwards, depending on the need of the individual user.

I am also including a picture of the back of the holster. You will notice a sewn on pad. This will help to cantilever the top of the holster just slightly inwards. Every little bit helps.

The belt loop is sewn and is an integral cut off of the stiffener. One bit of feedback I received is they pivot a bit, independent of the holster, even though they are part of the holster. I would attribute this to the thinness of the Horsehide. This is a simple fix, as I will sew a welt in at the top of the belt loop, where it meets the body of the holster, locking it in place.
Hope this helps somewhat and feel free to ask any specific questions I may not have covered.

The neutral cant model should give you plenty of clearance. The canted version makes is a bit tighter to the belt line. You should have no problems.

Here is a new BS-SN in Burgundy Horsehide and Alligator trim. It is pretty much the BS-SS belt slide, redesigned with snaps. I designed it to have the flaps be an integral part of the back side of the holster. This keeps the overall thickness fairly slim. This is the first of several exotic trim pieces I will be putting up in the next few days. Enjoy.

Jim was kind enough to make me a very nice High Ride for my LWC along with an elegant matching accessory pouch.

My desire for this was driven by my fickle waistline, which does not permit IWB carry with all pants. Jim's high ride proves to get the gun up above the belt line enough to keep it from peeking when accessing the top shelf at Target, and should be a good driving holster as well. Casual blazers usually have to be vented to work with 3:30 carry, and the minimal peek should help with those too Clearing the garment will take more work, but I hope that this will become a convenient option about 25-50% of the time depending on dress.

The service was quick -- less than four weeks I think -- and communication was excellent. I had a really good customer experience.

Here are some pics of the AIWB-CDA. This unit is getting ready to go out the door. Based on customer feedback, I have made a few minor changes that enhance the versatility of the holster by adding more adjustability. Obviously, AIWB is the most personal form of carry, as no two people can seem to agree what is exactly right for them. I am sure that while this holster will not work for everyone, it should be satisfactory to the vast majority of users, based on the user adjustable features.

Here is the front side with extra round Tuck Pad and extra oblong Yaw Pad

This is a front view of the hybrid belt loop. it is adjustable. You can also see the Tuck Pad.

Here is a side view of the loop. The area at the rear of the loop is clearance for your pants. Cap screws hold the loop in place and also add a little snugness against the pants, pushing through to the belt.

Finally, here are some pics of the Yaw Pad. The first double layer is sewn on. The cap screws are supplied to cover the holes. Longer screws are supplied for use with the second pad if more Yaw is desired by the user.

Beautiful work. Have you experienced any issues with comfort using the cap screws on the yaw pad like digging in to the wearer? Also, please explain in detail how the extra Tuck Pad is used. I'm guessing adding the additional piece will push the butt of the gun in further. Again, great looking holster with some very unique features.

ETA - I just looked at your website and it answered my question about the Tuck Pad pushing the gun in further.

Thanks for the compliment. The cap screws are very smooth in combination with the recessed washers. I picked black oxide SS for durability. They really don't dig in or irritate. Most people will not even need the second yaw Pad.

On the extra Tuck Pad, I found that customers with nylon belts need two spacers. I figure it is easier to throw it all in for the customer form here on out. I also supply all the extra screws and a wrench with each holster.

I'm really excited to try one out. While historically I've been opposed to the "do-it-all-adjustment" type holster, the earlier prototype of the JRC worked nicely for me and these new changes all appear to be heading in a genuinely original direction for the AIWB crowd. Being able to adjust the height, tuck, and yaw of the holster is going to make for a very nice setup.

First time posting, long time lurking. The AWIB holster being discussed is mine and I just received it yestersday, needless to say i am very happy with it. Its my first time AIWB so I will keep my comments short at this time, plenty of experts here. Thanks very much to Jim, his quality, cs, time frames and price are outstanding, I would have no hesitation recommending him to anyone interested in his products.

Anyway i did post my first impressions over at HKPRO, here is a link, http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-handgun-talk/153146-new-jr-customs-hk45c-appendix-iwb-holster-first-impressions-pictures.html#post1144856

I asked H7K about this, as I noticed how deeply the butt tucked in. he informed me that it was just 1 Tuck pad and the sewn on Yaw pad, as it is shipped.

It's very stiff and sturdy, no hint of weakness in the system, it's held up well to being shoehorned into my pants and the belt being pushed through the loop.

H7K,

Which combination of yaw pads and tuck pads are you using?

Like Jim said, no extention on the yaw pad (the standard setting is sewn on) and a single tuck pad. Tonight i added both extensions and will wear that tomorrow to see how it feels and if it changes much, honestly though it conceals so well if I didn't have any adjustment I would still be happy.

At this point the holster has pretty much sold me on aiwb and I can't see myself going back to my old system of carry.

Mounted on the holster, you can see from the top how the extender pushes against the Tuck-Pad

Here it is mounted in the 12 degree rake configuration. Notice the holster is mounted to the lower set of holes

Here I am wearing the holster in the reverse rake. It was very stable and spread the load out nicely. Truly, it is probably not needed on short guns.

Jim,

That belt is incredible! Wow, I've never seen a belt with two layers of horsehide. Both of my horsehide belts are 1 layer bull and 1 layer horse. My AG Custom dress belt has a subpar finish, so I think I'll be treating myself to a new 1.25" dress belt from you within the year. Do you have square buckles? I can't stand the round ones, personally.

As to the offset extender, now I can visualize perfectly what you were telling me about in our emails with depth for tucking the shirt in.

I'm pretty sure that offset extender will pull the grip into the waistline very well, too. I have a UBG "Becker (http://www.ubgholsters.com/iwb.htm)", which was my first AIWB holster. It also has an offset over the trigger guard, and the result is that it tucks in the grip just as good...if not better...than my Shaggy. It just wasn't a comfortable holster, though, and his finish bled onto my clothing during warmer months.

Thanks! Glad you like the looks of it. I used to use a bottom layer of bull hide, but switched over to 2 layers of horse, as it is thinner, yet has more rigidity. I can what ever type of buckle you desire on your belt.

Your Wife has great taste in Gifts, lol.
This extender shown above will not be for the regular tuckable loop. That said, the extender and original adjustable loop can be used tuckable in a pinch, by setting the screws on the bottom set of holes. It will limit adjustability somewhat and not give huge amounts of space to tuck a longer dress shirt.

Based on the photos that looks like it would work really well - I prefer to fold my shirt up and not tuck in too deep, it's hard enough to clear quickly as is - that looks like it would give just enough to hold in place. I'll be in touch with you fairly soon, birthday's in June.

If your referring to just the layers of leather on the belt itself, It is from 7/16 - 1/2 depending on the cut. I always try to use the thinnest portions on the ends.

I may have misread your question before. The figure I gave includes the belt tip run back over the belt as if it was around the waist.

I'm the guy that Jim made the belt for. My bride to be kept saying I could wear whatever I wanted for the big day which I knew wasn't true. I finally through the advice of a co-worker made my way to Nordstroms (fancy clothing store) to get ready for the big day. Got all set up and things sized for me, the clerk did blink funny when I was trying pants on with my IWB holster on. Looking in the store for belts all I found was wussy expensive belts from China. I actually asked the clerk if they had any belts for men, I thought he showed me the woman's belts.

Been lurking here a while and remembered JRC and made my way out of the mall as quickly as possible. It'd been years since I'd bought clothes in a store, malls are a little freaky. Emailed JRC and got set-up well and in time for the wedding. Nothing but good things about the belt and about the service I got, I was proud to wear something with soul and made by a craftsman on the best day of my life. It seems wrong to run a kydex holster on such a pretty belt, saving up for a a JRC holster.

Learned a lot reading and spending time here, thanks for the no bs forum.

LOL, glad you like the looks of it Mario. Thanks for the compliment!

Like 'em? I love them. My wife commented on the BS-SN when I was wearing it around the house to break it in, it's that good-looking. The AIWB is beautiful, too, something primally appealing about wood and leather grain patterns - and the hides you used have nicer-than-usual patterns. I don't like to gush, but your work has changed the way I think about holsters. Thanks for that. :)

As for function, my dry draws are just as fast after a few reps as with my Shaggy, with which I have thousands of reps. Retention is on par with my Shaggy - held upside down by the leather under the dust cover, a fully loaded G19 requires some pretty vigorous shaking to fall out. Comfort and concealment is better than with the Shaggy, though I'm still experimenting with the configurable settings. It seems I can switch things around a bit to get much better concealment at the expense of some comfort, but I'm hoping to find a sweet spot that will give me all the concealment and all the comfort.

And as for construction, these things are built like tanks. I was a little nervous about wearing a G19 in a leather G17-sized holster, but I have no qualms about that with these. Only time will tell how they stand up to copious sweat and salt/sand exposure of south Florida living, but I have high hopes with the tight horsehide.

These things look so good, I feel almost guilty about putting a Glock in them. Almost. PM inboud about a rig in which to show off my 617, which is the "showiest" gun I own. :)

Just wanted to share this nice Sloan/Keith style rig I just did for Mario. It is of course Horsehide, in dark saddle tan. It uses a grommet and boning for retention instead of a welt.
Hope you get a lot of good use out of this beautiful rig Mario.

Didn't know they had "Bear Hunting simulation" matches in FL..............

I know, I'm going to have to get creative to find reasons to wear this thing. After having some very practical holsters from JRC, which were all works of art as well, I wanted something that's a little more to show off and a little less practical. Great success on that front, and if the rig is anything like the others I have from JRC, it will be as functional as it is pretty.

Not too much open carry in FL, either, so hopefully I'll be somewhere with better open carry laws soon. In the meanwhile, the lows here just dropped below 75, so that's trench-coat weather in these parts and maybe I can carry it concealed. And since my only K frame is a 22lr, I'll feel well-protected from all the Florida bears. ;)

Is there a minor revolver division in steel challenge?

Dunno.

But the folks in Arkansas LOVE their rimfire matches. But alas.........they all start with gun on the table so as to keep it true to it's intent.........that anyone with a .22 can show up, not have a holster, or multiple magazines, and be competitive at least at the local level. It's all about the shooting, and nothing about the gear.............

Still, love that holster and belt set up. Might need to do something like that for my 627 if I ever get it back.

Thanks Lon. It was custom, which is why it isn't on the site as of yet. The cost for the double pouch is $60. I don't have any speed loaders on hand, so I would need yours. Once I would be ready to mold, I would only need them for a few days. Thanks for your interest, I hope to do business with you. Jim

Having finally buckled to customer requests, I am releasing the IWB-SN. This holster has the same contour as the OWB-SS/SN series, except for being IWB. This neat holster has the same great concealability as it's OWB counterparts. While similar holsters are offered by many competitors, I am adding this to the line up because of so many customer requests.
The IWB-SN is offered in different sizes to accommodate a wide variety of handguns. The loops are interchangeable and are offered in either high ride, low ride or tuckable versions. The holster comes in a 25 degree rake, but is adjustable by loosening the loop screws.
This particular holster is for the XDS .45. It is Saddle Tan Horsehide with Wildebeest trim.
This holster should be active on the website in the next 24 hours.

What is hard to see is that the spines on the holster stick out really well and highlight those horns. You did a simply incredible job on it. Luckily, it was cold here for a week and I got some good time on it.

I now have some gear on order that should make both Sean and DB feel totally outclassed. Plus I actually know how to operate a camera...

Do you not know where New England is, or do you not know where Maryland is?

You're just jealous because there isn't a color of the rainbow directly associated with you in the minds of so many. But how could there? Pink isn't a color in the rainbow.

Dude, where I am at at, Dallas is considered "the North"....;-).

Pink....I am very much Tough Enough to wear pink, and most of my "cowboy" "rodeo" wear is pink. I plan on having Ares make me a pink belt now just to show you how willing I am to buck the rainbow colors.

Here is the holster I just finished for the Mission 22 1911, that Dalton Fury is building. This will be part of a set, to be auctioned off to help raise awareness for Mission 22. 22 veterans commit suicide everyday, which is totally unacceptable. Mission 22 is intent on bringing this to the forefront and doing something about it.
The holster is the OWB-SN in Burgundy Horsehide, Burgundy Ring Lizard covering and Black Frog accents. The Mission 22 logo is laser engraved on the back.

Here are the pictures of the finished sheath to go along with Joe Watson Knives gorgeous blade that he custom built for the Mission 22 fundraiser. It is constructed from Burgundy Horsehide with Burgundy Ring Lizard and Black Frog trim. It is of full welt construction and has a floating welt retention tab.

Any of my OWB holsters can be modified to fit your needs. Are you thinking thumb-break, or something a bit more unobtrusive?

It seems such a shame to take a thing of beauty and add a thumb break to it.
I'll do some poking around on options and PM you eventually. If it does get signed, effective date would be 1-Jan, so, time is not critical.

I plan to conceal, but move to OWB. Still thinking about a possible platform change together with the move.
More stuff to spend money on... April is already expensive enough.

I have a couple of SSA's from Jim and their retention is very good. If I decide to open carry (not likely without a badge and doing cop stuff), my Horsehide and Gator JRC rig is at the top of the list.

I just ordered a custom IWB-SS for my SIG P239. Jim is doing custom replaceable loops for both 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" belts. I also ordered a HR-DBL magazine pouch, both in Burgundy. There sure are a bunch of enablers on PF.....

Here is my Horsehide Chromexcel and Snuffed Suede Razor Strop. The handles and hanger are made of hard rolled Horsehide and can come with exotic overlays also.
