Have you made any portfolios? Something like this: http://www.leatherology.com/leather-folder-black-leather-black-onyx, but in horsehide with your level of craftsmanship.
Thanks,
Jon

Jon, I can do this. I am thinking that the main body would be good in a Horsehide Chromexcel with a thinner pigskin lining. The Chromexcel in Horween's #8 color is gorgeous and is the same leather I use in my strops. I can also monogram it for you for a more personal touch.

This would be a retirement memento. I'll PM you closer to my date for a quote. What kind of lead time for such a thing?

JRCHolsters
07-04-2015, 03:44 PM
About 4-6 weeks. I try to keep enough leather on hand, so that would be an outside time quote, depending on when you order. If you like, shoot me over a PM sometime soon with your time frame and I will quote you and set aside the time if you like.

Here are some recent IWB-SS holsters that went out to some forum members. This holster has been updated for 2015. While using classic lines, it uses my unique "T" reinforcement to keep the holster rigid and open, with minimal leather. It comes with sewn in sight channels and removable belt loops. The leather is molded with the pistol cantilevered in towards the body for better concealment. Loops can come in 15 or 25 degree rake angles, snap or thread through and can be configured for high or low ride when ordered.

Good looking design. I like the semi-fixed loop. I typically have trouble with snap loops and simply don't bother with them and just snap them closed first and then thread the belt through the holster loops anyway. Your's clearly won't come unsnapped when you don't want them to.

Since you are a true custom maker, I suspect the sweat shield height is negotiable, correct? We have another thread going on right now with guys complaining about sweat shield height on their holsters. https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?16914-Cut-down-the-sweat-guard-Bladetech-IWB-Nano

Thanks. The way I designed it, it can have snaps or sold loops, or both based on the customers needs. On the shield, it is what ever the customer needs.

A customer begged me to build him this hunting shoulder holster, which I typically don't do. After some serious horsetrading, he is ready to roll. The holster is a pull through design for his M29. On the weak side it carries 3 moon clips and a blade. The harness is adjustable in the shoulders and on the straps. Not pictured is a full wrap around chest belt, to keep things locked down when he needs it.

Here is a nice one for your serious fine leather lovers. It is my Mini-Billfold in American Alligator, with pigskin lining. It is super slim, while carrying 8-12 CC size cards and plenty of cash. I will post this up in my online store, along with other fine accessories. If you are wanting a special gift for yourself or someone else for Christmas, it's not to late.(shameless plug)

Between being work and taking my daughter hunting and her matches, I haven't been on the forum as much as I would like to. Just thought I would post some holsters from the mundane to the exotic.

First the mundane. A HR-1 for the G43. Nice and thin with a high riding profile. Great for such a compact gun.
http://jrcholsters.com/images/stories/customers2/img_0534.jpg
http://jrcholsters.com/images/stories/customers2/img_0536.jpg

For a bit on the exotic side, a cross-draw rig, belt and pouches for a Rhino. Tan Horsehide with Nurse Shark accents.
http://jrcholsters.com/images/stories/customers2/img_0466.jpg

Now for a pretty fancy rig. This is the BS-SN, belt and pouch in Burgundy Horsehide with Burgundy Ring Lizard and Black Frog Accents.

A slightly different question, is there a color you like better old and well worn?

The answer is the same for both question. Cordovan/Burgundy is my personal favorite, because it looks rich and old fashioned. I also think it weathers the best.

I have an HR-1 for a commander. It's really cool -- it allows me to carry OWB in tight-fitting dress pants while wearing a sweater, and I never have to worry about a high reach.

I keep trying to carry behind my hip. Honestly.
Maybe some day I'll get the feeling for it, maybe when OC comes to pass here in January and I care less about printing.

Or, maybe it's a lost cause and I should get one of these.....?!

What materials are shown here? Beautiful.
Is that more of a yellow in person, or does it lean more towards tan?
What color do you call the brown on the right side of the photo?

Thanks!

This holster was yellow ring lizard and chocolate shark. The yellow is very deep, almost giving of red hues in the darker areas. I was a little skeptical when it was requested, but it turned out gorgeous.

OWB doesn't have to be for open carry only. Depending on the pistol, where you want to carry it and ride height, it can conceal very well. I have carried OWB with just a t-shirt and shorts many a time, no one the wiser. The holster design has a lot to do with it. All my holsters are molded with an offset angle, to pull the grip in tighter to the body. Much more concealable than a standard pancake or the flat back pancake.

What position are you wanting to be able to carry OWB? What pistol? How tall are you? Are your pants hip riding or waist height? Based on all of this, I can make a solid recommendation.

Here is a JRC double mag pouch and IWB-SS for the SIG 239. The craftsmanship is as good as it gets and the leather absolutely gorgeous. Jim made sure the sight channel would accommodate the taller HD sights and I ordered both 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" belt loops. The mag pouch rides high and close to the body and is very concealable and comfortable. I've used these for several months now, just getting around to taking a picture.

One of the forum members asked me to build this portfolio for them. It is a retirement gift to themselves. The portfolio has front, back and spline stiffeners made from veg-tan Horsehide.
The outside is Horween Pecan Austin, with a pigskin lining. The pockets are all Pecan Austin along with the two securing flaps at the top, which keep papers from falling out if tipped upside down. The edges are all sanded, stained and wax polished.

It's been a while since I Have had a chance to post any pictures. Now that I am finally getting caught up and had a chance to decompress in Panama for 2 weeks, I am going to try and be present more often.

Here are some pictures of a few pieces I made that were auctioned off at the 2016 MGM IronMan. The funds went to the MGM Junior Shooter Camps. We were able to raise a couple grand, that went to scholarships for the kids.

Here is a new one that I just finished up. It's a blend of my IWB-SN and IWB-SS. It spreads the load out a bit without the large footprint of the typical winged IWB pancake. I will probably be adding this one to the line-up shortly.

Here is the latest collaboration with Joe Watson, for The Blade Show.
The bowie is hand rubbed, clay hardened carbon steel blade with a sharpened clip and tapered tang. Handle is contoured Hawaiian Koa with peened pins.
The sheath is a spectacularly grained horsehide, with black American Alligator trim.

Haven't had a chance to post in a while. Here is a set that just went out to one of the forum members. It's stingray over blk horsehide. The holster is my SSM scabbard and the pouch is my HR-DBL high ride pouch. This was for a Beretta.

Looks even better in person. Took it out for it's maiden voyage on Saturday, and it works perfectly for what I wanted it for too. Thanks JRCHolsters!
