Is the Gripforce adapter permitted in IDPA SSP? I'm looking at this rule:

2. Grips may be changed to another style or material that is
similar to factory configuration (no weighted grips; see
“weighted grips” in glossary for further details).

Any ideas?

I'd say it's a no brainer considering that Glock has come out with their own like device. Sounds "similar to factory configuration" to me. I believe ToddG has time with the Glock addon.

That would be a modification that would place the firearm in ESP. But as quick as I type that, I'm questionable at the same time.

At least for the moment it appears to be legal:

Copy. Based on what I've read here, and on TPI from Claude Werner, I decided to take on my first IDPA club match last weekend. I did ok (5th place SSP, unclassified) and now that I know, "how the game is played," I want to do it honestly and by the rules so that I can participate and be duly prepared for the sanctioned matches.

Thank you for the answers gang.

So what you're saying is that it'll be legal until someone uses it to beat a 1911 in ESP or CDP.

I kid, I kid.

I originally wrote "But be careful, IDPA has been known to change informal decisions like this at a drop of a hat," and deleted it because it sounded pessimistic.

But, yeah. They do.
