Does anyone have any info on the Glock 40?

Now that they've officially announced the Glock 42, and there is enough leaked about the G41 to know it is a longslide .45, what credible info on the G40 is out there? I assumed it was just a 10mm G41, but I have no direct intel on it at all. In fact, the G40 model number hasn't really even been mentioned. What's up with that?

I've read rumors that Glock skipped the G40 number because of concern that consumers would be confused between a Glock 40 (a model) and a Glock .40 (a caliber)...

I told Gaston he needed to make a .40 version of the GAP guns, and 40 was the next model number. Made sense to me. But noooooooooooooo.............

It's a 10mm GAP Magnum.

Well based on the chambering of the G42 it is clear that they are selling products to the lowest common denominator, so I am not surprised in the slightest

He didn't listen to me either......I just wanted a single stack .45 ACP the size of a G34/35.

Since the Glock 22 is a .40, it is plainly obvious that the 40 should be a .22.

"I'm looking for a Glock .40"
"Sure! Here's a 22!"
"No, I'm looking g for a forty..."

Please, God, it would prove the Germans have a sense of humor.

It could be the Who's On First of the gun world.

"I need a Glock .22"
"A forty?"
"Yeah, a Glock 40"
"So you need a Glock 22?"
"Forget it, I'll take a Glock 9"
"17!"

I think the G40 should be a long slide 10MM like the G41 .45 ACP.

I think Glock proved they had a sense of humor by releasing the biggest practical joke in the world, AKA the Glock 42

Canadians are the ones who really resent being confused for Candians, in my opinion, mostly because Candyland is a reactionary monarchy outside the British commonwealth (and King Candy' s inflammatory anti-maple rhetoric probably doesn't help.)

It would be like calling a Canadian an American, in that it would raise umbrage but be technically correct in a certain light.

Austrians are still Germans.

Hopefully it is a 10mm version of the 41. Given Glocks numbering scheme with the 45 models coming after the 10, it makes sense to me.

Not according to a single Austrian I know. Just like Kiwi's aren't Aussies.

"German" can be used to signify both a nationality and an ethnicity, in much the same way as "America" can be used as shorthand for a land mass or a political subdivision on that land mass.

That's only because we were clever (or hubristic) enough to name ourselves after a continent.

Austrians are still Germans.

Are we talking pre WWI or post? ;-)

Not really, nobody does that. German speaking countries could be possibly used, but not a direct "German" reference it would be offensive.

They're still Germanic people, regardless.

The Austrians have tried to separate themselves from being "German" post-WWII, more than likely due to the stigma of Nazism.

There was a split during the Prussian and Austrian rivalry for control of "Germany", but that did not create the big split we see today with Austrians insisting that they are "Austrians" and not "Germans".

If you are familiar with 19th century nationalist movements, you will realize that ethnic groups, not borders, determine identity. It's a bit of a foreign concept for Americans. Think of it like Chinatown. It's still in the US, but those guys are Chinese.

Here is a wikipedia article (I know, I know) that will help explain this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_question
