I see that you still have part of the label on your axe-head. So you're one of Those People, are you? {shudder} You would get along famously with my wife -- at this point I think she leaves the label on stuff just to kitten with me.

A plastic pistol and a fiberglass axe handle? What exactly are you smoking in that pipe?

On a serious note, nice coin.

I was wondering, how big is that pipe if that's a coin, lol.

As previously noted, that's a FAST pin (FAST in under 7 seconds, the coin is much harder to attain), and the pipe is definitely not (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G1MBVH2/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00G1MBVH2&linkCode=as2&tag=ratio07-20) plastic :D I'm proud of my FAST pin but would like to earn a coin someday.

I think pipes are cool, and love the smell.. that said I can't see myself enjoying one considering I look 12, and my self image would feel ridiculous. Now I can enjoy a good axe :o

LL- While your attempt was acceptable, the plastic handle on the Glock and the axe fall short of "perfection" ;)

For those keeping score - the pipe LL showed is a "Military Mount" of the Irish Army style in the billiard shape.

A military mount was developed (at least as far as I know) as a solution to cracking the shank during WWI. Soldiers and Marines would have their smoking interrupted by the occasional shelling. They would quickly pull the stem from the hot/moist shank and shove it in their pocket. After a few of these abuses, the shank would crack. An inventive Tommy (this is a British/Dunhill claimed invention) took a 303 case, cut off the neck, and pressed it on the shank. That ring prevented the shank from cracking by keeping it under compression. LLs, rather than cartridge brass, is silver.

FWIW, I'm still trying to find a pipe maker that will make a billiard for me using a WW1 vintage cartridge case on the shank for me.

To this day, in the pipe community, Soliders and Marines (US and UK) source out Dunhill Military Mount pipes. And being crazy Brits, they laced their 'bacco with lots and lots of latika.

I personally prefer Pete's, as I like the styling better.

I'm assuming you meant shank throughout your whole post. You referenced both the stem and shank cracking, but the fix described was specifically for the shank, no?

Would the hood of a Border Patrol vehicle suffice?
Or should I switch it to a roach, a coke cutting razor blade, a head chopping axe and a AK47?

Or...

You can take the lawyer out of practice, but not the law out of practice

UGH. I learned to shave with those horrible disposable Bic razors, because that's what my Dad used and I had no idea there was anything better. It's half the reason I quit shaving and grew a manly beard.

I had to carry one of those kittening things with me at all times in Basic Training. When the other recruits were smoking, I was dry shaving. Supervised by the Drill Sergeant or "Drill Corporal." (Who was also occasionally sent into the latrine to make sure I was shaving in the AM...)

Drang, same thing happened to me after a drill instructor found out I was 17. He would have me tell him why I wanted to be a marine while I shaved for the second time that day. Difference was it was a Gillette fusion (better, not great.)

Only tobacco I could find was the tin of Frog Morton On The Bayou, which is OK as an occasional smoke, but I prefer more Virginia or Latakia, less Perique.
