And I've never taken the medication....

Patients who take methylphenidate and develop erections lasting longer than four hours should seek immediate medical treatment to prevent long-term problems with the penis. If not treated right away, priapism can lead to permanent damage to the penis.

That's definitely a new one to me. Now I just imagined all the guys I went to college with taking Adderol and pulling all nighters in the library but then being completely unable to study because of painful erections lasting more than four hours. Thanks for ruining my night with that image man.

I've taken methylphenidate-based medications every day for the last 20+ years and I've never heard of it working as an erectile-dysfunction med. Something tells me they mixed up their "OMGWTF ADHD is overdiagnosed so it's BS" storyline with the warning label that came with their generic Viagra (sildenafil) prescription...

And in any case, I had an interesting discussion with an internist the other day who thinks the priapism warning on Viagra et al is actually marketing. He's been unable to find documented ER admissions in his (very large, national) hospital system for even a single dude with never-ending wood.

the dude that does the youtube channel, Smartereveryday did a bit on priapism. The best part was showing how they fix it.

I remembered seeing that but didn't have time to track it down to link yesterday. Well done!

Didn't click the link. I'm pretty sure it involved sticking a big needle someplace I'd just as soon not have a needle stuck. Either that, or they flash a picture of Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi mud wrestling. Either way, I don't want to see it.

I guarantee you that said picture would NOT cause priapism. Cure it, maybe, but definitely not cause it.

That's the point I was making.

Sorry about that. Went over my head I guess.
