NYC is sending out letters to people who have rifles and shotguns with the capability of accepting more than 5 rounds.

I think this must be a mistake, because I keep hearing that no one wants to take guns away.

Did any thinking person really believe they weren't going to do that?

The NY State Legislature only admitted on camera during session in early 2013 that they wanted to enact a confiscation law.

I can’t believe this can happen in a city with such a strong 2A mayor.

This is an important precedent, me thinks.

Impossible. I've been assured that Democrats are strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment, and this is obstructionist NRA propaganda.

Makes me ill. I feel for the people who live in less urban parts of the state. The silver lining (for everyone else) is going to be when NY pulls a Great Britain or Australia w/regard to violent crime, an all this just goes into the 2A side of the facts ledger.

I thought this was debunked as a hoax.
While I would be totally unsurprised at its legitimacy, I'd like to see more evidence that it is indeed real, valid and enforceable.

This took a little digging, but on a NY forum for Officers -

Well, this is settled.

I called our good colleagues at the Rifle & Shotgun Section. They are well aware of the KITTENSTORM this caused all over the web.

This letter was sent to ONE person...for reasons involving his specific permit. He then changed it a bit to make it look like something it wasn't, and posted it online.

Done and done.

Is this really on the table in CT, or is the comment tongue in cheek?

Our bozo governor & legislature must be smoking crack again if it's true

Glad I’m out of here before the end of the year.

I already left! Loading my glocks to standard capacity never felt so good.

According to Fox news some 500 letters were sent out on Nov 18th.

Yes, I saw that today. So what was debunked is not.
