An Australian jeweler admits to manufacturing 100 Mac-10 style submachineguns in his house and selling them to biker gangs. (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/jeweller-angelos-koots-admits-to-making-submachine-guns-at-his-seven-hills-home-and-supplying-them-to-bikie-groups/story-fni0cx12-1226760983916)
The guns look to be manufactured to a pretty high standard, cosmetically at least, but I don't see either a safety or a ROF selector. According to the article the guns fire at 600 rounds per minute - if true, this might actually be an improvement on the original. I am surprised that he went with the Mac-10 design for a homemade sub gun. A Sten or (bonus cool points!) Owen should have been easier to make, if not easier to conceal.
Sophisticated homemade weapons are pretty amazing to me - as someone who has trouble hanging pictures it's astounding to see what handy people can do with simple machine tools.
