Some of the best human beings I know are Filipinos. The Philippines are on my short list of countries with gun rights like America in case things get bad here. I spoke to a good friend (Filipino American, some of you have shot with him) about which charity to choose in order to help with the destruction recently wrought upon the Philippines by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan and he recommended the Philippine Red Cross (http://ushare.redcross.org.ph/). The exchange rate is bit confusing with the peso but $50 is 2188.28 pesos and here is a handy currency converter (http://www.xe.com/?c=PHP).

Growing up in the southern Philippines and knowing people who currently live in Tacloban and Cebu this hits pretty close to home for me. Another option for giving to help the recovery (if you don't mind giving through a religious organization) is through the IMB (https://netcommunity.imb.org/SuperTyphoonHaiyan). There are no administrative costs subtracted from the donation because the organization recieves operational funding through other means.
