KSTG (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?2330-KSTG)match
Tuesday 26-November-2013
$25
Estimated Round Count: 75
Squads begin at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. Six people maximum per squad.

Registration begins 8am Monday 11-November. Limited spots still available. Call 703-267-1402 to reserve a slot.

Please note: Beginning this month, anyone who has never shot a KSTG match before, regardless of other competition shooting or similar experience, will be required to attend a 30-minute rules & safety brief immediately before their scheduled squad start time. In other words, if you have not shot a KSTG match previously you need to show up at least 30 minutes early for the briefing. Missing the briefing will disqualify you from the match.

Shooters who have previously competed in a KSTG match are also welcome to attend the briefing if they wish. Effective immediately the match staff will no longer include detailed explanations of game rules as part of stage descriptions. Competitors are expected to know the rules when they walk onto the bay.

Are the squads still starting on the hour? I called to sign up today, and was told the squads ran at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, etc. Wasn't sure if the new briefing was changing the scheduling?

Squads still start on the hour I think. They were supposed to. I'll have to call NRA and check. Perhaps there was a miscomm.

Confirmed that shooting begins on the hour each hour just like always. The class (mandatory for anyone who hasn't shot KSTG before, voluntary for everyone else) begins half an hour before the shooting and should take about 20 minutes.

Thanks Todd - I'll call back and figure out which time I'm starting. I'm guessing they told me the time to report early for the brief.

I just got a voice message from the NRA HQ Range confirming my sign-up on the 9PM squad (and to call them back if that needs to be changed). That was interesting; I don't think I've ever gotten a message like that before.

They're contacting everyone who signed up to make sure the SNAFU about the start time is cleared up.

Not too late to be there at noon to help set up and then shoot the match at 4pm before the riffraff -- I mean customers! -- show up...

That was a lot of fun! I was in the 6 PM squad and had a great time, especially with the par timed targets and stages!

Thanks, guys, for another fun match!

Fun match. I think the FTN did me in, but it was a good time.

Now in addition to my dry fire, I'm going to find a button to practice pushing. Apparently I need that.

We continue to refine our approach to the electronic button... it gives us a great capability but obvious has some user interface issues. For what it's worth, no one was penalized for button problems at the match.

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather & the traffic to shoot the match!

Absolutely loved the stages of the match tonight. I know I say this every match, but it seems to get more fun and creative every time. Thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

So it wasn't the most revolver-friendly match (and honestly, what run'n'gun match has revolver-friendly stage designs nowadays, anyways? Except perhaps a BUG match or matches with certain stage designs). I accepted that handicap, and also accepted that a .44 Magnum wheelgun probably isn't the the most appropriate platform to be shooting in any match that doesn't include metal chickens, pigs, turkeys, or rams. But I had a good time nonetheless. I even consider it an exercise in figuring out which targets I was going to drop and which ones would benefit me the most, since I knew I simply wasn't going to get them all tonight.

So thanks to the crew, and to the NRA HQ Range. Things ran smoothly, as always.

I should have my earmuffcam video cut and posted in the next day or so.

That was great fun guys! That was a good challenging match, and the timed aspect really turned up the pressure and showed me a lot of places I need to work on.

Now I know what you're thinkin': "Did he fire six shots or only five?" (earmuffcam video + outtakes)

Dude, I'm going to get a j frame holster and compete in your division next time. Well... "compete" is an optimistic way of putting it... :D

Thanks! I should get a real holster anyway, but if I don't get one in time for the next match, I may take you up!

Mmm, I haven't shot my J-frame in the KSTG for some time now; it would be fun to try it again next time!

Perhaps we could make it a "BUG match"?

The December match is scheduled for 31-Dec. We're still juggling things to be sure we'll have enough folks there to set up and run the match. An announcement yea or nay should go out soon.
