I'm trying to stock up a spares kit for my HK P30, a v2 in .40.
I'm in the process of getting a spare/backup P30 but having extra parts can't hurt. So far I'm planning on getting a few of the following:
-Trigger Return Springs
-Hammer Springs
-Extractors
-Recoil Spring (Possibly a complete assembly)

Do you think a hammer strut and a trigger bar would be overkill? Also, the only recoil assemblies/springs I can locate on the web are listed as 9mm. Does anyonw know if they are sprung the same or differently? Lastly, where can I find a maintenance shcedule for the P30? Thanks, any advice or info would be appreciated.

I think the extractor is probably overkill.

The hammer strut maybe, just because years ago there were problems with them so there is always the concern it might go bad. But based on my two years shooting the HKs, I wouldn't keep one in my range bag.

Changing just the spring of the recoil assembly is a big enough PITA that they don't even explain it in the armorer class (at least not the one I got). The full assembly is expensive but you only need to change it once every 25k rounds.

Thanks for the info. I can only find 9mm recoil assemblies, I need to contact HK CS to see if there's a distinction between 9 & 40.

Any chance you could also ask them if they have hammer springs in stock?

FWIW: I just got a bunch from HK Parts, along with some V1 trigger springs.

Any other sources besides HKparts.net for replacement parts? $100 seems..... steep for a complete guide rod assembly. I am looking to either get some spare parts or trade my P30 for a new one. I purchased mine used with an untold number of rounds through it and if parts will cost around $200 with shipping and tax, I might as well take the hit and trade mine for a new one and some change. I will have Todd take a look at it in class and get his opinion, but I am leaning towards trading up at this point.

On a related note, is there an official maintenance schedule published for the P30? I don't remember seeing anything in the little book that came with it.

I do not recall seeing an official service schedule other than what Todd detailed during his torture test of the P30..... In regards to my earlier post, I just remembered my SIG C3 1911 that I rarely shoot and when I do it has a unfriendly ejection pattern. This could be used to off set the cost of a new P30...I wonder what other trade worthy items may be lurking...
