WTF is a vegan strip club? Does that mean the strippers are vegans? If it's the food, remember Hambo's Rule #1: NEVER EAT AT A STRIP CLUB/BAR.

I have no idea. I've never been inside. Fortunately, someone else asked the same question and wrote an article to answer it.

What is a "vegan strip club," anyway?

A strip club that serves vegan food, and does not permit dancers to wear animal products onstage, which are the house rules at Casa Diablo, the Portland club where Lynsie Lee works. Strippers may not wear fur, leather, feathers, or wool when performing.

    Why is it vegan?

Casa Diablo owner Johnny Diablo has been vegan for 28 years. There are a lot of vegans in Portland, and he figured they'd enjoy looking at naked ladies while consuming vegan snacks. Casa Diablo's logo is a naked lady with devil horns eating a carrot.
Also, turns out I got the name wrong - its Casa Diablo, not Mary's.

As for the food, I've never been to the Acropolis, but supposedly the steaks are quite good. YMMV.

Toro Bravo is a really good tapas bar. The smoked coppa steak is fantastic.

The Portland Soup Company has outstanding Hungarian mushroom soup and their roast pork butt sandwich is awesome as well.

The Matador is a good Mexican joint.

Go train and roll at Renzo Grazie's, Impact (Mike Chapman), or SBG.

Sinferno was pretty entertaining for a fiery burlesque show.

There are plenty of bars that I like, but maybe depends on what you're looking for?

    Try:
    Tilt (awesome burgers there too)
    Oba
    Rum Club
Whiskey Soda Lounge (same owner as Pok Pok)
    Whiskey Library (expensive)

For steaks, Ox is probably the best but plan on hanging out in the bar for an hour to get a table (no reservations).

I haven't been to Portland since we left in 1995 but have family living in the area at times. I do suggest Powell's bookstore as a thing to do.

We used to love a restaurant called Papa Haydn's for dessert: http://www.papahaydn.com/phw-menus/

    Yelp says it's still there.

My favorite gun store got busted by ATF when we lived there. Oops!

You should still drink there anyway.
I don't have enough experience with beers to know what a good price point is and I don't drink enough to pay much attention to the price tag anyway. But I do know I like the way their stuff tastes. I guess they do special runs when the Oregon NG has a homecoming from deployment and my dad picked up a couple cases of Kabul Brew. Good stuff. But they're not the only game in town. Lotta good beers, wines, and liquors and even soft drinks made there and one would be doing themselves a disservice to visit Portland and drink alcohol that wasn't produced there.

Absolutely. Like I said, my favorite bar/brewery is Cascade Barrelworks. I love sour ales and they are disappointingly uncommon, and really excellent ones are less common still. Cascade Barrelworks has the best sour ales I've ever tried, bar none, and they usually have several on tap. Lots of great saisons if you don't want to only drink sours all night. Love it and miss it every day.

I forgot about a couple of others:

Clyde Common has incredible food, but the acoustics of a flight line. http://www.clydecommon.com/
Zupan's is a high-end grocery store, but the ready-to-eat stuff is incredible if you need food on the run. https://www.zupans.com/
Bamboo Sushi has a Kobe beef cheeseburger that transcends conventional ideas about how and what beef should be. Cows aspire to this. http://bamboosushi.com/
Olympia Provisions http://www.olympiaprovisions.com/ has all the heart-attack meats covered.
Pine State Biscuits http://www.pinestatebiscuits.com/ is great for breakfast, but extremely crowded.

    More as I remember them.

Pine State is now so crowded as to not worth being the trip, from what I was told by old friends when I visited this June.
