There is a reasonably priced Gen2 G17 in a local shop that I may have a use for. I wonder if current generation Glock holsters can be used with Gen2 Glocks. Would a holster made for Gen3 Glock hold Gen2 Glock securely? Thanks.

Since most holsters retain on the trigger guard you will be fine. The only area that changed that matters for a holster is the rail/dustcover area.
ETA: I have a few customers with Gen 2's doing fine with a holster for a Gen 3.

Think for yourself. Question authority.
I'm sure there are some holster designs out there that might be generation specific, but I've used a Gen 2 19 in holsters for Gen 3 guns, including Comp-tac and Raven.

I have both Gen 2 and Gen 3 G-17s.
Gen 2 will fit most holsters.
Older holsters that were made before the light rails are too tight for a gun with a light rail.

You should have no problems with Gen 2 to and Gen 3 holsters inter changing.
