Maybe they don't read the news. I'm in total agreement and have thought the same thing as you, many times.
I'd think we'd have major issues with people coming out of the known terrorist training camps we have here throughout the states. The threat of terrorism is real. There are bad people who want to do bad things to normal, everyday Americans. But, nothing really happening other than the FBI creating the illusion of "terrorist plots" and holding the hands of the mentally challenged while escorting them down the path of entrapment.

I do have my wishful thinking cap on but maybe it is because the logistics of making the attacks happen here and have them "mean something" (e.g. generate enough media attention) are more difficult than we assume? That and it seems harder to terrorize the non-attentive. LOL

I'm actually my own worst enemy there...........however, I showed real growth at a Bass Pro in southern Indiana recently. I walked out with less than a bill spent. And did not return later. Usually I'm down close to a grand any time I walk in.
Chuck hit the nail on the head......the idea of a bass skiff in my rucksack has crossed my mind........
Sounds like "Fishermen Anonymous" would be fairly proud of your restraint at Bass Pro, but maybe not so much your rucksack idea. Thankfully, I haven't had to carry a ruck for a couple of decades, but if you do figure out how to stuff a bass skiff in one, let us know. There might be a market for that.
IIRC, one group in New England wanted to pull off a gun using attack but called it off because they found they couldn't get full auto guns. I don't think they were sophisticated and were caught. If home grown folks pulled off a major attack with plain jane ARs from Bass Pro - you could kiss your modern sporting rifle goodbye when the smoke clears.
I heard an "expert" claim after 9/11 that there were 8000 terrorists in the USA ready to strike (so much for experts at seminars). With that many folks, you could paralyze the country with just a little thought.
On charging to the rescue, an officer told me that his folk intercepted a guy running towards the mall with a handgun during some incident to save his sweetie. He wasn't shot as they figured he was just being too zealous.
Let's say a guy goes rampage where I work. So if I could carry, I take my Glock 19 and move towards the shots. I run into the officers who respond in about 3 minutes. Well, can they trust me? We do have faculty going nuts - Dr. Amy Bishop, for ex. I have been shot as a good guy in FOF. My best plan is to protect the room with kiddies that I am in. Of course, campus carry is evil.
Agree. I don't think people realize how tenuous their hold on black rifles and "standard capacity" magazines are. A real AWB is 2 or 3 more gawdawful tragedies away...
Folks who talk about "moving to the sound of the gun shots" must have a better grasp on telepathy than I do, because that's how I assume they're planning on telling the cops that they're on the side of the angels.
There's nothing suspicious about someone driving a car and waving the flag of a known terrorist organization, that has an extensive history and experience with VBIEDS and car bombs, in a major US city with several high profile terrorist targets (not to mention it's the hometown of the president), and approaching the anniversary of Sept 11 terrorist attacks. Nothing suspicious at all. The cops should have busted a U-turn and gone the other way.
