    Hebrew Hammer--2 Gun match w/Tavor

Fun outlaw match under a perfect blue sky. I decided to pull my heavily modded Tavor SAR out of the safe. It took me most of the match to get used to it...

Motion activated mover and Max trap. Down 3.

3 per target with pistol then transition to rifle. Down 0.

(I posted my match video from yesterday in the big match vid thread.)

I want to discuss some observations about dot vs. no dot using the same gun. I had a good IDPA match, shot clean and placed very well. So, I feel like this is a good data point for comparing my current level of skill with irons and dots shooting IDPA.

I was really surprised how close my CO and ESP scores were. With irons, I was 4% slower and had 2 more points down. When I shot CO and ESP with P-07s, there was more of a delta. I think this was for two reasons: 1) A fiber optic front sight vs. tritium on the P07, and 2) Heavy Shadow2 vs. lighter P07. What was really interesting is my feeling that the delta would have been much greater if I'd been shooting USPSA with hit factor scoring. Settling the dot and shooting almost entirely reactive wasn't much faster than doing that with irons. A dot really shines in flash sight pictures and predictive shooting.

There's also the likelihood that I still have more room for improvement with dot shooting than with irons.

    Thoughts?

This past Sunday was my wife's birthday. I asked her what she wanted to do, and she said work out, hike, fly and shoot. Since that is the "regular" it was easy. At the range my wife was shooting very fast, noticeably faster than normal.

On Monday, I was curious about her pace, and she was on fire again. I said, "honey why did you have to wait until you turned 61 to shoot so fast?" Immediately she responded that "she needed to wait until she had a good foundation of accuracy!"

I could be totally off base, but from what I have witnessed, better shooters seem to see less of a difference. Sucky shooters suck either way. Those of us somewhere in the middle tend to get a big boost.

Great movement, backing out, SHO. The tail is a nice touch. She needs some fox ears on her earpro
