Civility is not a tactic or a sentiment. It is the determined choice of trust over cynicism, of community over chaos.

Yes! Las Vegas runs news articles about the high number of auto-ped accidents they have... what they seldom mention is the number that were J-walking or crossing against signals, often drunk or stoned. Drivers are usually demonized. It's like a trend. I just read where a Mass. county won't prosecute no-DL, no-registration, no-insurance citations because it disproportionately effects illegals and 'ties up resources.' Drive at your own peril.

On one of my trips to the UK, I was in the office with my teammates and one of them received a package he was excited to open. As I watched him fumble with all sorts of implements trying to break through the packing tape, I relented and handed him my pocket knife. This wasn't a scary tactical folder, but a bone handled traditional slipjoint like our grandparents would carry. It even fell below the UK blade length limits. Both he and another coworker recoiled like I had just produced a live snake.

The addition of “zoo and [zoo-like places]” is interesting, at least I have a CPL but these laws continue to boggle my mind.
Just another verbose, knee-high “keep out” fence.
I love this state but something needs to happen to bifurcate “common sense” laws and “posturing” laws.
My city has 20,000 outstanding warrants. Most are from not paying the above type fines and no appearing to court for same. Yes, most of the offenders are minorities, illegal and legal. By not prosecuting the Mass county avoids having to issue warrants to these marginalized and subsidized group. They engineer better stats and save expense of processing and jail costs of housing them.

NYC may allow AI cars - the problem is that double parking, scooters, Jay walking and other non standard meanderings into the road and rule breaking may not be covered or processed in or by the programming. It will interesting to see the carnage. How do AIs deal with carjacking when Upscale Jake is pulled out of his car? Will thieves learn to deal with an AI, does the AI recognize you as sole owner? What if you have a gun that is smart gun? Can it tell the car to pitch into the fight by shutting down or speeding away?

A CPL is becoming a passport in WA. I would never give that up. WSP pulled up beside me while I was on a frontage road north of Umatilla a few years ago. He never asked for my DL or ins. Just asked why I was there and advised me to stay there with my trailer until the high winds subsided. He said I see you have a CPL. He got that from my plates. We then had a conversation about hunting.
