Is he wearing one of those high performance mouth guards? Would that explain the funny faces he makes?

Starting at about 0:38 or 0:39 seconds into this video, he goes full fish face as he tries to do an AK reload.
He is just oxygenating since he is under stress then he can see better. It is like the opposite of tunnel vision.
