Week 77: Variable Scoring No.2
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Friday 16-August-2013.
Range: 7yd
Target: B-8 25yd Timed/Rapid repair center (download a .pdf of this target here)
Start position: holstered
Rounds fired: 5 (6 if starting from ready position)
We continue our examination of different scoring systems and how they impact training with a single simple drill that we'll then score multiple different ways. This week's version uses a target with multiple scoring zones. Each hit is worth a certain number of points as indicated on the target.
If you are using a holster, draw and fire five rounds at the target on the buzzer. If you are shooting from a ready position, fire six rounds. Record your points and your time. For purposes of this DotW, X-ring hits are worth 10 points.
Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
- starting position (ready, competition holster, duty holster, or concealed)
- gun & holster used
- points scored
- time
Then calculate your "score" based on different scoring systems:
IDPA: raw time and add 0.5 seconds for each point you dropped
KSTG: raw time and add 1.0 seconds for each point you dropped
USPSA: points (minus 10 for each complete miss) / raw time
Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.
