I don't think this is a big secret. If I recall correctly, he taught a class in a shoot house, posted a video of it on the internet, and got jumped on, hard, by some knowledgeable people for some potentially messy safety issues. I never saw the video and am not qualified to say what was or was not done correctly. There was a big thread on M4C about it, which may have (has probably) disappeared by now.

I've bought stuff from Grant, usually when he has specific gear in stock that other vendors do not. His prices are sometimes better as well. No problems with service on my end.

I referred him a friend who wanted a custom AR upper (i.e., an upper with a specific rail pre-installed on it). He never returned my friend's emails or phone calls.

    YMMV.

I purchased a set of 10 AR mags from him. He sent 9. There was no way you could physically fit 10 mags in the box that he sent. I brought it to his attention several times via email that he shorted me a mag. Not once did he acknowledge my communications or his mistake. Several week later, out of the blue, I finally received the missing mag ... no apology, nothing. Although he eventually made it right, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would never do business like that, so I decided I wouldn't order from him again.

I bet Grant talked that cop into the felony, too.

    All over 60,000 rounds?

That's a lot of ammunition for a single person, but in terms of organizational schemes it's peanuts. I'll never understand why people throw away their lives over peanuts.

No wonder you can't post on M4C!

I thought maybe the nuthugging on M4c would calm down, but with the misdemeanor the same folks are still going to be reflexively posting 'Buy it from G&R' where it will: 1) cost more; 2) likely be out of stock. Even though it appears that G&R no longer own M4C.

    Life goes on, LOL.

It boggles the mind. We see people step over literally millions of dollars in salary, OT, and pensions to pick up a few grand in bribes.
