    • DotW #65: Cold Shot Challenge: Draw and fire 1rd at 3x5 card at 10yds PAR: 2.5s. Hit: 2.26s. After reading the discussion on the DotW thread (DotW #65) I decided instead of pushing my failure point the intent was to select a PAR you thought you could guarantee the hit. Not sure if that was right or not, but that's what I did.
    • F-PAR: Draw and fire 1rd at 7yds to 8" circle. START: 2.0s, FINISH: 1.5s, LOWEST w/HIT: 1.4s. I am noticeably slower right now utilizing an open front garment and OWB holster, no surprise there.
    • Draw and fire 1-SLR-2 at 7yds to 8" circle. My reloads have gotten HORRIBLE. I thought the one gain moving to an open front garment would be some added speed on my reload, but that is definitely not the case yet. I was averaging around 2.4s reloads which is a far cry from my 2.0s reloads from a closed front garment. I will be spending a lot of time analyzing why this has become the norm.
    • I used a sideways DEA dot target at 7yds and worked tgt-to-tgt transitions, L to R, R to L, 2-2-2-2-2, 1-1-2-1-1, 1-1-1-SLR-1-1-1, 1-1-1-RWR-1-1-1, and 1-1-1-TR-1-1-1. Not sure this was the best approach for tgt-to-tgt, but it seemed like it at the time.

    Activity: IDPA Match
    Gun: M&P9L
    Rounds Fired: 100

First real IDPA match since around 2004. Back then, the team I was on used IDPA as a "testing" activity to proof what we were doing in training. We never competed to win and we shot it in our gear (6004's, tac-vest, etc). That being said I wanted to shoot this match slow and smooth and see where I landed w/out pushing too hard. I tried to shoot everything with clean sight pictures, solid reloads, and so on. Did I make mistakes, sure did. Stage DQ on the first stage because when I drew the gun to make ready I brought it to my eye line just as I would in my normal draw stroke. Even though it wasn't on any targets, it was considered taking a sight picture, and stage DQ. Live an learn, lol. But I have to say, I had a great time just shooting the match to shoot the match. No pressure, no need to win. I am glad I decided to start shooting IDPA again, and look forward to some USPSA action next week. I'm sure I'll make PLENTY of mistakes there, lol. On a side note, my tgt-to-tgt transitions sucked big time. Gonna really need to work on that if I want to shoot the game.

    • DotW 66: Cold AMRAP: PAR: 3.0s Rds Fired: 8 Hits: 8 (1.71, .20, .18, .18, .18, .18, .18, .18) M&P9FS AIWB under Pullover
    • Switched to USPSA gear (M&P9L, Comp-Tac OWB) Worked moving side to side on an 8ft barricade, adding a speed reload part way through. Noticed I was missing far more than usual and all to the right, even after slowing down considerably. After a quick inspection of the gun it was clear my rear sight was offset and was throwing my shots off considerably at 15yds
    • Set-up barrels 10ft apart at 7yds and worked movement from one to the other doing tgt-to-tgt transitions and speed reloads during movement on 3 IDPA targets
    • Stationary tgt-to-tgt transitions at 10yds on IDPA targets

Been a super slow training week, my own fault. Like an idiot, I forgot to post my DotW scores, again. I'm eager to get back to working AIWB and hopefully with the 9L soon.
