My brother from a different mother!

I already have both of those watches. A Casio G-Shock solar atomic, and the Doxa 1500T Sharkhunter with an orange face. Both are big but indestructible.

I got an old Gen 1 Seiko Orange Monster in Singapore on libo back in the last century, and got used to that orange face. I still have it and it still works.

I had a Rolex two-line no-date Submariner, but sold it to help a family member. I don't really miss it, and the sibling brings me more joy than the watch did.

Does your FDE Pilot’s Navigator have the same feature?
I’ve been eyeing the black version.

So that Grand Seiko doesn't have the spring drive?

Correct. It's a mechanical with a higher frequency than quartz and a 55hour power reserve.

They also have hi-beat watches with 80 hour reserves (double barrel/mainsprings), but don't currently offer that movement in a tool/dive watch setup.

You meant a higher frequency than other mechanical movements, right?

A Hi Beat movement generally goes at 5 Hz, a normal mechanical movement goes at 4 Hz and a quartz movement goes at about 32.77 KHz.

True - coffee hadn't kicked in yet. Thanks for the correction.

I bought my Submariner at a jewelry shop in Tysons Corner VA in 1996 when I was on travel to DC once...I'd gotten a good bonus and had always wanted one. I wear it daily. I've worn it changing the oil in my car, scuba diving in the Red Sea off Ras Mohammed in Egypt (maybe not a good idea, I guess) and it's been bullet proof; just a few scrapes and scratches. I last had it serviced by the factory in 2015; the guy I did it through also regulated it for me. It's been pretty reliable, gains 1-2s per day. I normally wear it during the day and keep it in the winder at night. This is my ‘one watch.’

I’ve had my Citizen eco-drive for 10 years maybe? Bought it for scuba diving when my wife wanted to take a training course. I'm retired from helping teach but was a PADI Divemaster for quite a while. Don't dive much these days but it's nice to have a dive watch. But I could do without it.

The Timex on the end is my normal everyday, go to the range or work on the truck watch. It's their 'Ironman', got it for maybe $40 at WalMart when we were traveling in the RV extensively. I’d add this for my ‘two watches’.

    One watch, cell phone.

Two, cell and my grandfathers engraved Illinois pocket watch. I carried it quite a lot for a number of years, it was starting to show some wear and tear, so i stopped. At this point I think I may as well use it, not saving it for anyone.

I tried wearing some of dads watches after he passed, I get a skin rash from them, so stopped. Hard to get used to something on my arm at this stage. I had a decent Casio 20 years ago but I kept breaking it in my normal life activities so tossed it and never looked back.
