Decision - will sell it - got a good price set up. Then buy a new one. Gots lots of 380 and extra G42 mags, so I will give it another whirl.

Good move! I bought my primary G42 in 2019, and subsequently got a second one from a co-worker in trade for some garage gym gear. I've never seen a hint of a malfunction from either one, with about 2000 rds total between them. They have been fed Lawman, Gold Dot (dept policy), a little XTP, and the new Hydra Shok Deep.

As with the G43, +2 floorplates from any maker are right out. If they aren't causing malfunctions yet due to follower tilt, give them time. I've tried all the major brands personally and seen many examples as an armorer ("Why is my G42/3 jamming?").

I can vouch for the Taran +1, however. I've used those for years (both 42 and 43), and am convinced of their reliability – they add only perhaps 1/8" of effective length to the mag body, not enough to induce follower tilt.

Good idea. Make sure that the mags you keep are marked “-03”. Sell the no-dash or -02 with the gun.

Or...mark the older mags with a Sharpie and reserve them for practice.

The new 42 is in the approval pipeline. Bought it from Runnings. So I have to send the paperwork to the county which takes about a week and a half for approval and then I can take possession. It is a brand new one. The store was out of Glocks two days ago and then got a shipment of 60 of them. I guess they sell.

    Price - interesting comparisons.

I sold the old one for $315 which went back into the one - the new one was $399. So an $84 dollar difference (not including tax and computer check in fees - bah). Since the gun was from when they first came out, I got decent years of use for $84. Now, the local Cabelas wanted $419 - if I got their credit card - I could get a discount to $377. But I don't want another credit card for various reasons. Also at Cabelas you have to check in and wait in a queue with the other folks - many newbies who are comparison shopping and then watch their staff geezers try to use the computer system A friend of mine who worked there and was n the geezer cohort said all the computer usage was befuddling many of them. Runnigs - go in on a week day - in and out reasonably quickly.

On line folks are $399 also from the big dealers but then there would be a stiff FFL transfer fee. Nope. The LGS is running new ones for $449. More power to them if they get it but it isn't hard to comparison shop. Never understood that in TX where Fudds would go to the Nasty Fudd store and pay full MSRP when you could go to Academy for instance and save quite a bit - even more at the gun show.

I sold the gun to an FFL. I've read enough criminological studies of time to crime on privately sold guns, even though I would have to use an FFL for the transfer, to screw around with a private buyer. Just me.

When I get it, I will see how it works. For an antigun state - there is sure a lot of handgun purchasing going on. However, one guy at Runnings was looking for a semi rifle and they had Minis or Ruger PCC 9 mm or a AR-ish Frankenstein mix in some whacky caliber - 365 ThunderBlammo or like that.
